Another thing that I appreciated about Scarface is that the movie takes time to show Tony not just grab a gun, but also spare magazines and grenades and place them in his pockets. He's then shown reloading his gun. Between being high on stimulants, having good firepower and extra ammo, and taking up good positioning, I always bought how long Tony lasted during the mansion attack. On a separate note, no LAPD officers were killed during the North Hollywood shootout, though at least one officer committed suicide years later as a direct result of the incident.

Collateral is so great, and Tom Cruise is amazing in it. One of the things you notice about Tom Cruise in that movie is his economy of motion: he only moves when he needs to move, and where he needs to move. No excess flash. He exudes a sense of purpose.

@@FNGACADEMY You guys should see if you can get some retired FORECON or Army Ranger/ODA Inte/Recon element personnel (The Army has a unite that does this very well and isn't very well known outside the SF community) who's tsk was to do deep inter and recon on the Taliban and Al Quida forces on the channel. These guys are mostly limited DA units as they're primary was tracking and gathering intel for SOF/SF/SOG and the like to prosecute targets these guys found from weapons caches to high traffic areas and where their patrols and actions were taking place. These individuals operated on the zero footprint doctrine which meant avoiding contact at all cost in favor of providing critical intel and recon to the shooters from the ODA's Rangers Delat Seals And Raiders, they also did a lot of overwatch and limited QRF as well as taking the CCT asset with them as they weren't a DA element but could provide security for the CCT to do their thing with AS. That would be a real interesting aspect to get your opinion on and how differently their missions were from everyone from Infantry to SF.

I have many suggestions but I'll only do one this time: The underseen and underrated movie Wind River. Directed by Tyler Sheridan (writer for Hell or high water, Sicario, Yellowstone). It involves a rookie FBI agent investigating a murder on a reservation who has to rely on help from locals. There are two shootout scene and I think they are pretty realistic and brutal. One is the agent and a local hunter investigating a crack house. The other is the climax of the movie so it's worth looking at the run up to the shootout if not the entire movie. (spoilers ahead) The shootout itself involves a team up of local law enforcement vs armed security guards. It lasts probably under a minute and besides people getting thrown in the air by a high caliber rifle, it felt pretty realistic to me. The way one law officer freaks out because he knows the guards are boxing them in makes me think he was written as a veteran. And he has one of most badass last sentence in a movie. I'd love to hear your take on it. Hope this sells it to anyone who cared to read. The movie itself has a good message and will potentially make any grown men cry. It's not a joy ride.

Great work as always, guys. But on the hanging from the ceiling bit I should share a story my mom told me way back around 2002-2003. She is/was (about to retire) a Chicago Police officer and she came home one day laughing about an arrest that night. They were pursuing a suspect that ran into an abandoned tenement building so they had to clear each room with no luck. They get to one of the last apartments and it's clear but Mom gets a funny feeling about the closet they checked and goes back to it. All the other officers are watching and quiet as she looks in the closet. And as she stands there, she hears faint but strained breathing and looks up to find the suspect, and I'm quoting her exactly, "Spider-Man-ing" on the ceiling (She called it that since the 2002 Spider-Man movie was still super fresh in our minds). She instinctively shouts to show his hands and he fearfully obeys....... and drops face first onto the ground and just about knocks himself out. They have no idea how long he'd been doing it but the mad man had done it for at least as long as it took for them to get to the floor he'd been hiding and worked himself up there. This story has a funny extra bit when they were filling out their reports when, unknown to her, her coworkers called the suspect 'Spider-Man' in their reports and beat her to handing them in to their Lt. Mom turns in hers later and about 10 mins later gets called back by her Lt, who is suppressing laughter and I'm gonna sum up the exchange. He says her report is different from the rest, she asks how so, he proceeds to mention her lack of identifying the suspect as 'Spider-Man' in her report, she stares at him before leaning out the door and calling the other arresting officers a "bunch of fuckers" to their delighted laughter while the Lt loses his shit joining in, so she tweaked her report to include 'Spider-Man'. So, thanks to her and her coworkers, some ex-con has the police given alias of Spider-Man and he probably has no idea.

The climax trailer park shootout with LEOs and the crooked security guards. Pretty realistic on the count of both parties get fucked up. The only time I did concentrated fire was in Boot Camp in 1976. It was night fire, and we used tracers. During that light show I remember seeing rounds actually hitting each other and ricocheting in crazy directions, and thinking; "there ain't house-fly could get through that lead storm!" So when I first saw "Commando" I was greatly amused by how Ahnold could run out in the open, with about 10,000 bad guys firing at him (on full auto no less), and make it out alive, and without a scratch, then turn around with his M-16A2 and mow down about 500 of those bad guys while firing from the hip, without having to change mags, while throwing grenades he had depinned with his teeth, and operating a flame-thrower with his nipples.
