Fun fact: They denied him the role at first, and he had to fight for the role. He also did his own stunts, believing the goblin was just as important to act out

Willem's flawless performance was the only fan service we could've gotten and the movie would've been just as enjoyable. The typical stuff like having all the villains meet up and talk about each other was fun, but damn, Willem Dafoe is easily my favorite part of it all. He came back to the role after 20 years and not only slipped right back into the character, but he was even better than he was in the first Raimi film. I got everything I wanted out of Goblin in this movie and so much more.

Yeah, honestly Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molena were the best things in NWH. They had the most weight to the film as well as were opposing ideologies in the film. Octavius being driven paranoid and distrustful because of his malfunctioning chip for the robotic limbs ending up having the conviction to help the others return to normal while Osbourne was too weak to fight the corrupting influence of The Goblin surrendering to it and embracing his inner darkness all the while trying to bring the others down with him and in the end he almost corrupted Holland-Peter into following a path of no return, something Garfield-Peter nearly fell into himself when he mentioned earlier in the film that after Gwen died he stopped holding back and grew rageful later realizing it was doing more harm to him than good.

This is a good video and I like the Green goblin I don't know why people say that Norman's greedy he's not! People just kept on betraying him and kept on saying NO i feel bad for the guy regarding Green goblin him saying that he's like a god sure him flying around a glider with bunch of knives sure he's like a god 😒 I know over selling himself is this thing and I find that amusing. And plus struggling to have everything and making the world choose isn't that just part of life. I mean he said high School and when he said strong enough to have it all to weak to take it again high School and was he talking about Spider-Man or Norman.

@@chileshekateule1361 yes finally someone points it out. Goblin is a completely different character to Norman. Spider-Man 1 and NWH treats it like that. It’s so amazing how he can just swap like that on a dime and you know exactly which personality is in control at the moment. You can tell clear as day when it’s actually Norman or the Goblin pretending to be Norman based on small actions that Dafoe does. I think while Ledger is an Joker and has deserved his spot as the Greatest Comic Book Villain you shouldn’t overlook Defoe’s Green Goblin. I can go back and forth on who’s better with a slight lean towards Defoe simply because he’s playing 2 characters at once.

I think green goblin wanted spiderman to be like him, he always preached to spiderman about his ideologies and tried to break him with difficult choices and twisted logic or something so... its kind of like when they are not in costumes the way how he kind of had a mentor relation ship with peter but i could be wrong, someone correct me or tell me what you think

What Green Goblin truly wanted was how to show how certain selected people were meant to rule with fear and have the power to have everything. He admitted that SpiderMan was special just like him and that they were meant to join to be lifted by others. He was disgusted by SpiderMan's willingness to help others and called it a weakness. So when the hero refused his offer, Goblin was mad and wanted to destroy SpiderMan's life. But he failed and paid it with his life. But the past version of him was transported to MCU and met with SpiderMan there. And just like his own SpiderMan, MCU SpiderMan was righteous and willing to help others. He also saw that there were other individuals with powers and special abilities. He was able to convince other villains to embrace "their gifts" and even tried to break MCU SpiderMan, whom he thought he knew as well as his own SpiderMan. MCU Peter lost Aunt May and eventually tried to do what Goblin wanted all along, giving in to his anger and getting blood on his hands. If wasn't for Raimi SpiderMan, Goblin would have won and MCU Peter would have been no different from Goblin, which would validate the villain's point that people with powers are meant to use it for themselves and not for others. Green Goblin is SpiderMan's joker. He does not really want to kill SpiderMan. What would he do without him, go back to gliding around the city while cackling? No, no, no, no SpiderMan completes him.

Ah, another who gets it. I agree wholeheartedly. In nearly every version of Spider-Man, Peter is the hardworking, everyman. Norman is the businessman. While Peter fights to keep what he has, Norman usually doesn't have to due to wealth, experience, knowledge, influence and power. Peter gets bitten, and becomes Spider-Man, which is his truest version of who Peter is (the honest, the brave and just). Norman's experiments result in him becoming the Goblin, which takes his own traits and magnifying them (as he becomes vain, cruel, violent and spiraling into utter insanity). While Peter struggles to keep what he has, at times losing, he always gets back up and keeps going, as both Parker & Spider-Man. For Norman and the Goblin, it's usually the opposite (especially going off later comics, and other media) Goblin is ruthless, selfish, uncaring and can manipulate when the need suits him. The two of them are polar opposites. And they are destined to continue to battle for all time, in every universe. Just like Batman & Joker. There cannot be light without shadow. And vice versa.

The weakest marvel spiderman movie! It really disappointed my! Cuz before I go watched i had different expectations... I expected to see a fight with sinister six like in the comics but nothing happend of this. Even green goblin is not more green goblin. I feel like in this one is playing willem Dafoe role!
