Green Lantern is a 2011 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett and Tim Robbins.

I actually went as Jared Leto's Joker last Halloween. I stayed in character the whole night, had people cracking up. But I knew how to restrain myself, and even stayed sober for the whole night so I wouldn't come off as too obnoxious.

Same, it's one of my favorites part in the credits ^^ It was hilarious, just perfect; i loved it and even said ' Thank's Deadpool!' out loud in the theater then applause. A few peoples in the room did it too actually, it was great!

@@kingether4486 I kinda think that keeping sinestro for the sequel was ok, and also kinda like the suit, it doesn't look real because it's made from materials that are not real, but projected by the ring, but the mask, yeah, that should have been real. I never really understood the hatred towards Ryan Reynolds when it came to this movie. Yes, the movie is terrible, but I never blamed or hated Ryan for it. Even for Wolverine Origins and Blade 3, I just blamed the people in charge.

Yes, it's strange that people blame the actor, when he's not in charge of any creative decision. The same happened with poor Ben Affleck in Daredevil. Actually, his performance is probably the best thing about that terrible movie. Reynolds is not the writer, director or producer in this movie, so how is that his fault? Even his acting can be at least in part blamed on the director.

If anything Reynolds wanted to back out from Origins when he found out what misdirection they were going for with the character, by that point he was legally obligated to continue with the project...notice hes showing no fucks given while he's playing Wade and the guy at the end playing Weapon X isn't even Reynolds??

The SADDEST part about this movie is that aside from all the unused potential, they actually set up the sequels, the GF who would become a Star Sapphire and Sinestro with his yellow Fear Ring. In would REALLY love to see a “War of the Light” series of movies or shows.

Green Lantern is my favorite hero of all time. He's got an imaginative concept and some of the most colorful and entertaining comic book stories I've ever read. It's a shame this film captured absolutely none of that.

@Lord Dash Donald Dappington ... that spelling makes the joke less funny actually as it's easier to read it wrong. Also, Nostalgia Critic clearly says "Moron" and not "Mauron" (assuming that you would pronounce the "au" in "Mauron" the same way you pronounce the "au" in "Sauron").

Fun fact Marc Guggenheim (of the arrowverse shows) original script of the film was basically training day in space with Sinestro teaching Hal how to be a Green Lantern, heavily focuses on space and the actual corps and only spends about 15 percent of the film in on earth...how we got this from that original script is anyone's guess.

pretty much sums up all the characters motivations. Hal Jordan doesnt even make sense in this movie, fighter pilots are crazy devoted to their jobs since it's insanely competitive and takes a huge amount of training and skill. They're college educated military officers, not lazy drop outs that are too cool for school. The villians are just like "welp, I guess I'm gonna destroy the world"

I have a better idea for a green lantern movie: focus on Hal Jordan on earth for a few minutes, do something that makes him worthy of a Green Lantern ring , have him meet Abin Sur, pass on his ring to Hal, he travels to Oa, then gets a super suit that is not CGI, meets Tomar Re and Kilowog who shows him the ropes and on a training mission he comes across a former member of the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro. Also there would be a few scenes of Hal with Carol Ferris, one of which is a romantic scene of them being in an entire amusement park made by Hal’s ring. In a post credits scene, Carol has a vision which will lead to her becoming Star Sapphire and the other scene is Hal meeting up with an old friend from Central City, Barry Allen who has the ability to move faster than anyone

I honestly prefer the stuff that focuses on the Corps itself rather than any one lantern. Now give me a Red Lantern movie and I'll get excited again.

Personally I do really love this film on paper but in practice it leaves much to be desired, as someone has mentioned already Ryan Reynolds had to remind the writers of the green lanterns oath which shows just how much they couldn’t care, and green lantern is so much more then not caring he’s one of the most important parts of the justice league and is a beacon to humans in the dc as to what there capable of, he doesn’t pretend to be something he’s not he holds his humanity like a badge of honour and it’s incredible, this film saw him as just another superhero to start a franchise which doesn’t make any sense, I think given time we will get the version of green lantern we deserve and in time I’d like to work on my own version depending how that works out but it’s something I’d love to do Fans deserve a good green lantern character and not just a version that didn’t care about where it came from
