severums aren't as aggressive but they certainly aren't gentle either. I have a juvenile severum and green terror and the severum won't leave the terror alone. however, I suspect the roles will change once they get older.

AJ I respectfully disagree as the green terror is incredibly aggressive and when we had one it killed all the other fish in the tank and most of them were cichlids

Both terrors and buttis are weak fighters plus this was a domonance fight for who owns the tank their not trying to kill each other

They’re definitely not weak fighters if they’ve been known to kill devils, Dovii etc My 12 inch female is so powerful it doesn’t even make sense how strong they are. Jaguars are by no means weak but the average Butti is probably stronger and more aggressive than the average Managuense. You need to own one to see just how powerful these fish are. And I mean a full grown adult

they make decent ones. as far as tilapia go starrynights are usually some of the most interactive.

One of the best solo fish you can get. They are extremely aggressive and constantly digging. On the glass trying to bite me every time I walk by.

Buttis are over estemated. I still love them they are aggressive tried one with my jag and the butti got killed. Their not that strong as we can see at the end the terror won!!! And terrors are weak not very strong a butti compaired to a RD, Jag, Flowerhorn, dovii, Red tiger moto, yellow jacket, midas and so on they are nothing

It works with some really aggressive south American cichlids. Red devils do well with some types of africans

green terrors have a similar temperament and come from the eastern parts of south america where there is a relatively high ph.

@@wokevikki4332 yeah but if that was true you’d see plenty of cases of cichlids such as Jack Dempseys, Green terrors etc beating all of the Parachromis family due to their smaller mouths but it just doesn’t happen. And I’ve never seen or heard a case of a Buttikoferi getting it’s lips ripped apart or jaw or something when lip locking with cichlids, even Dovii haven’t done that. Buttikoferi are on average some of the most aggressive cichlids, many hobbyists put them in the top 5 and they’ve been known to kill Red Devils, Jags, Motas, even Dovii umbees, festae and Beani. I know every individual is different but the average butti is on par with the average dovii with aggression. They also don’t have weak jaws. My 12 inch female when glass banging, you can actually hear her jaws and teeth scratching the glass, it’s crazy.

All males from the cichlid genus will develop nuchal humps, even angel fish and discus. Obviously some species more than others
