🌲 Welcome to Marc Adams School of Woodworking!🌲
🎥 Greg Gallegos, from Haslett, Michigan, taught a green woodturning class at Marc Adams School of Woodworking. The students enjoyed crafting various shapes from green wood. One of Greg's demo pieces was made from freshly felled Persimmon wood from the property. Techniques such as microwaving to achieve movement in the turned wood were showcased. Greg also displayed other works, emphasizing different wood colors and textures. Luke, a student from Sharon, Vermont, was inspired by Greg's social media posts, leading him to enroll in the class. With ample wood supply and assistance from Will, the shop assistant, students explored multiple projects. The class included embellishments, carving, and coloring, with layered colors being a specialty. Luke highlighted his walnut platter, airbrushed with blue over black, and a thin-turned green flower, which warped upon drying in a microwave. For Luke, turning green wood, which produced long shavings, was more enjoyable than dry wood.
👍 Special Thanks to Will, our shop assistant, for his continuous support and assistance throughout the workshop.
