Having owned a GB F112 and F115 for four months now, I can confirm everything Ed says in this video. I've played through virtually every type of bass cabinet over the last 35 years and these are simply in a class of their own. The reason I purchased these cabs was this excellent review. Thanks Ed and thank Dave "Greenboy" Green for taking bass cabinet design to the next level!!

Very nice workout on this cab. They're obviously not on showroom floors so this is a great demo for those of us who haven't really heard one yet. I've been using an Epifani UL112 quite happily for years but these have definitely caught my eye since I like to travel light and get the most sound out of the smallest footprint. It's now on the list! Cheers.

After hearing Ed's brief Fearless rap a few months ago I ordered an f112. It's permanently replaced my 1 x 15" cabinet. Cleaner low Bs, less brittle highs, punchier mids, more power headroom, and easier to carry! Bass Down-Under.

Fantastic playing! I have 2 fearless cabinets I built myself around 2010. a 15/6 with a tweeter, and a 15/15/6/6 no tweeter. The old design had the ports on the bottom, instead of the side. They both perform great. Super flat sound. I consider them the "PA" speakers of BASS. I don't think any other bass cab to date can match these for a flat(true) sound.

Well, I guess I'll have to build one of those. WOW those sound good, even on youtube :) Great video. I'm not going to advertise anyone on your page, but will say that greenboy makes their plans public (for non commercial use), and another company sells precut wood and all the parts (unless you have a shop capable of cutting true square pieces of wood, don't bother cutting it yourself). The components and wood are not particularly cheap, but probably less than half as much as hiring a builder. If you've never built a speaker before, it's very rewarding when done, but a surprising amount of work even when pre cut. Will post a vid when I'm done, sometime 2017.

Great review! I really love the tone of F112 with all these basses, looks like the cab is unbelievably versatile. However, can it compete with the average 4x10 (let's say, Ampeg) in terms of loudness and sound pressure?
@BassWhispererTV
@BassWhispererTV 10 жыл бұрын
Well, it replaced my Genz Benz Focus 410 on my road gig, and sounded WAY better. I can only compare it to that. It's possible that your Ampeg may be technically louder given the same power... but the way the F112 handles the low end, I think you'd probably hear yourself better.

Thanks for the review! In your estimation, how much of a cabinet would you need from Greenboy in order to fill a 600-700 person room without FOH support? Looking into these as a full range solution to get clearer sound from my synth rig when I have to switch to that.

Well, I'm not familiar with this brand, and while they may be excellent... I'm not personally interested in looking at more cabs. First and foremost, my demos here are strictly based on my personal interest, and so I'm no longer checking out other cabs for myself... I'm covered. If they want to approach Bass Player Mag for a review, and they assign it to me, I will write a review... Otherwise, I'm sticking with Greenboy as they have consistently proven themselves to be ideal for all my purposes.

Amazing speaker! I made one (it got stolen) Never heard better. Any two way cabinet is a joke compared to these. A 212 with Kappalites will eat most mass produced 410s alive. The midrange is very necessary. Beautiful, natural tone. Walk around onstage and you hear yourself everywhere. Bandmates will rave.

Great review! I really like how customizable those cabs & grills are, too. Very cool, indeed... Your playing is beautiful, too... That 6 string was gorgeous. Yyyy, ok so i hear that Eminence KappaLITE 3012LF 12, is long excursion subwoofer, so "low B is quick"? Also bear in mind that according to the spec: Usable Frequency Range 46 Hz - 2 kHz for this speaker. So please stop saying bullshit! It cannot handle B string with root note. Only 15 and 18 inch speakers can handle B string and also not all 15inch. It is good cabinet but for 4 string bass. Also mid range speaker is not necessary. I made 15inch cab but with big 2inch cone horn which can handle from 1.8kHz and it sounds amazing, covers bandwidth 35Hz-18kHz.

First, rule number 1? Don't be a dick. You've already broken it. Rule number two? Refer to Rule #1. You may not know as much as you think you do, but that doesn't matter. I'm not the person to explain it to you either. I suggest you go to Talkbass and start a rant. It's not going to happen here. And by the way, I've been playing that exact cab for 9 years now, with every kind of bass, pushing it hard. I KNOW this cab can handle a low B with ease, if you can't HEAR that for yourself in the demo, then maybe you need to listen a little more carefully. My best advice to you is TRY one for yourself...and then STFU.
@Marcink126
@Marcink126 Жыл бұрын
@@BassWhispererTV if I'm dick then you are a pussy with lack of technical knowledge. Bear in mind that brain does reconstruction of the bass even if does not exists. Maybe you heard about harmonic frequencies? Yes yes, this cab works only on 2-nd harmonic of the low B, then you think you hear the root note and oh it is so punchy :) If you want I can send you my measured frequency spectrum of my bass, then 10", 12" cab and 15" cab. Based on your knowledge you will be surprised. So to sum up please read about some physics and stop spreading bullshit.
@BassWhispererTV
@BassWhispererTV Жыл бұрын
First of all, fuck your physics. What exactly did I say in this review? I said the cabinet can HANDLE the low B with no problem. That, Mr. Science Guy, is not bullshit. I’m talking real world performance here, not data on a spreadsheet. Tell me, did I say this cabinet can accurately reproduce the full spectrum frequency range all the way down to the fundamental? No! I’m talking about my subjective experience playing through, and sitting next to this box. So do me a favor and learn to interpret speech accurately. Here you are getting all pissed off about something that was never said, and being a real dick about it. Do you wanna argue about numbers? Go ahead. knock yourself out. Go to Talkbass and I’m sure you’ll find a taker. Do you want to try every single 112 cabinet on the market and tell me which one can handle the low B without compromise? Give it a shot and get back to me when you have some USEFUL experience. Nobody who is playing a bass through a great cab gives a flying fuck about physics. If that’s what drives your bus, great. But don’t confuse it with subjective reality. I’ve sat next to that cab for YEARS, pumping the shit out of my low B, and it never fails to reproduce a huge, clear, fat low B. I could give a fuck about your physics bro.
@Marcink126
@Marcink126 Жыл бұрын
@@BassWhispererTV thank you for showing the world how stupid you are :) It is not my physics. It is also your physics. I got rid of all 10 and 12 speakers and currently using 15 with mid/tweeter 2". It still does not reproduce the fundamental note but it is the closest. One hint, even cheaper 18" subwoofer will not reproduce low B root note but no one cares it still shakes people like crazy. So if you are happy with your cab it is nice I'm happy with mine.
@BassWhispererTV
@BassWhispererTV Жыл бұрын
I’m stupid about physics, that’s for sure. But physics doesn’t directly translate into actual gear performance. I know what’s out there, I know what works, I know what sucks. Do I care if “your” physics (they’re yours because you GAF about it, I don’t.) don’t “work”? No. This is the best 112 out there. It handles my low B with clarity and punch, and has never broken up. Listen for yourself… what do you hear? Now, all this mess could have been avoided if your first response didn’t immediately make me think you’re a jerk just trying to score some “I’m right” points. If you approach me like a dick, I’m going to treat you like one.
