Super useful video. I’d never thought about choosing a front for the pot as well 👍 Also cutting the growth back on the maple does that get done yearly and does that help keep it more tree like than bush like?

not necessary, only pruning thin branches, and always seal anything over 3mm with Lac Balsam

Great repot video. Corin, what was your thought process choosing the rectangle pot for this maple, and the oval pot for the Siberian elm? Do you look more at the winter silhouette or summer when choosing the pot shape for deciduous trees? Cheers 🍻👍🏻

I find that that flared profile of the sides of this pot compliment the flare of trunks as they emerge from the clump. It is also a beautiful pot I had that I was wanting to use for some time

@@corintomlinson6687 AHA. Yeah I figured it wouldn't be great for me trees but I'd definitely throw it into a bed or the compost. Good to know I'm not the only one. It's really expensive 😩 🤣

Great! One Questions: how do you treat the trunk so that it becomes so clear almost white? I don’t think this is just because of age. Thanks
@corintomlinson6687

acer are often winter sprayed with lime sulphur diluted 1:20 with water, which builds up a paler appearance. However I haven't ever done it on this tree.
