Big Matt, im new here and this was my first intro to you and your work. Amazing music and studio. I recently inherited 20 older reel to reel tapes (60s and 70s music) and now looking for a player. I Havent touched a player since my DJ radio days in the 70s. My search for one continues and your channel will be an excellent guide, be safe, brother. Thanks!

Still Walking and Working. I got a number of Receivers in and some Turntables in and been keeping busy with those but I've been neglecting my Reel Decks. I need to get back on the horse and Spin some Reels! Great to Talk to you Big Matt! I'm Always Impressed with your Stuff. Hope the Holidays were Good to You and Happy New Year! Take Care my Friend and Talk soon@@5thcomm

@@Zcuckoo Sounds like you're keeping active, Tim. That's awesome. I'm making a stronger effort to cull the heard in '24 and get down to a more manageable number of reel to reels. I just realized I need to put that last statement as my Screensaver:-) Good to know you're doing well Tim Hope you have an amazing 2024.

Yes that's pretty much where I'm at. My realization came when just before thanksgiving I had to clear out the dining room and table as it became a staging area for gear. I'm walking all over the house carrying receivers looking for a place to put them and every shelf top, counter, speaker cabinets all occupied already. The house is Full! Apparently I was the last to know. Ooops@@5thcomm

Hello. Love your videos mate. I own a tascam 32 R2R. It was working fine but the capstan seems jammed. I am no technician but I've seen a few videos and I think I can replace the capstan or belt if required. Would it be possible for you to give me an idea what the problem in my R2R is before I buy parts. It rewinds and forwards fine. When I press play the pinch roller moves up towards the capstan but doesn't play the spools. I've tried pushing the capstan to run with my fingers, and it's jammed. I removed the pinch roller and head cover to get more grip on the capstan, and it turned but with great force. Would appreciate some guidance if possible. Thanks mate.

Hi VF, Indeed sounds like a belt. You'll need to remove the front panel to gain access. A little time consuming, but doable. You got this!

@5thcomm Thanks so much for a speedy reply. I hope its just a belt. I felt like asking you, a broken belt on one hand and a jammed capstan on the other hand confuses me. When a belt is broken, does this jam a capstan. Thanks once again mate.

@@VinylsFinal Yes, a melted belt can seize the motor. Clean all the residue from the motor when you replace the belt

@5thcomm you've made it easy for me thanks a bundle. May I ask what tools do I need. I only have screw drivers here at home :) one thing for sure I know I need is alcohol swabs :)
