He is a highly educated man and he is also a musician. He spent most of his time producing and writing for other artists. He is an English professor also (early life). He had a couple other hits, but he mostly writes and produces. He is 69 years old now and still sounds just as beautiful. He looks very good for his age and evidently takes great care of his body. He cares a great deal about our people, Blacks and fights for our civil rights. He cares about the earth and all races actually.

"Shake You Down" is a phrase Abbott came up with that he thought expressed the way a man feels when he sees an attractive woman - "Girl, I want to shake you down." He tried the phrase out on a female friend and when she responded positively, it became the title for this song.

Gregory Abbott is a musical anomaly because he is the only artist to have a number one album with no formal vocal training. What you hear is all talent. Plus as a professor, he studied the science of making a hit record before he released this album.

Classic 80s R&B at its finest, and it was totally up your alley...the man had you climbing walls like Spiderman...lol...I was a high school freshman when this song dominated all of radio, MTV and BET and VH1...and definitely a hot slow jam at our school dances too...and Gregory is STILL collecting checks from this ONE hit!!

I love watching your reactions, you really draw us into the music and you don't interrupt the song while it plays as much as the other people that react. And your range of music is so good. I don't understand why some music videos would block you. Without you, people would have forgotten these songs. Many of the songs you've reacted to I've downloaded them on spotify. Hi again. Just watched as you heard Gregory Abbott, Shake you Down. You had me laughing so hard! I'm a 62 year old white woman. My youngest son's father was, God rest his soul, black. You took me back because as you see that child, now 32 years old, was conceived to that song. I bet there are many others who can make that statement. Thanks for the memories.
