VW e-Transporter T6.1 ABT review.
After using for a year and a half Curtis gives us his thoughts on this van. From comfort to technology to performance.
Ended up costing nearly as much to charger as using a diesel van.

I have been told that the battery needs changing every 4 years and it costs £10-15k. I live in London. I work in London. I do 2020 - 250 miles a week. Because of where I live, I can't charge it at home, so I have to rely on public fast charging points. The cheapest van I have found today is £12k including vat. MOT due Nov 2024. Considering all of the above issues, is it worth buying a second-hand one?

How much are they compared to a diesel?

Question is he going for a Volkswagen diesel or a ford transit of some size or description ? Or is he going to play a wildcard and go for a deliver 9 diesel.

What’s going to happen to these vans when the battery can only do 10 miles? Can you add additional battery’s or upgrade the battery? Looking for a new van, but this has put me off electric big time ☹️

Best thing is to get one. Remove the battery rubbish and put diesel engine in it and gearbox 😂. They are still early days and basically fancy prototypes. The next battery transporter will be a badged transit custom so maybe better range etc from there. But how it lasts long term is very unknown and I wouldn’t invest personally.

Bit of a gas guzzler then (via the national Grid). I thought an electric van would be great for a typical gardeners few miles here, few miles there kind of day, seems not.

60 miles at most on full charge. Not for me, I like to be able to use my van...😉 Diesel is still king as far as vans go👍

Worst van in the world I was offered one that was 2020 with milage only 6k For £14+vat My friend said with his work tools in the back he would only get 35 to 45 miles
