Tragic. I happened to be passing through London on June 26, 2017, and visited the area out of respect. The building was completely black, charred from the inferno. Visited all the memorials around the tower. So many flowers, messages of remembrance, and messages towards the people in power. And here we are, 4 years later and the investigation is still ongoing. Hopefully, justice will prevail.

@@MaddyMcCancerape Margaret Thatcher did the same before Blair and everyone was in awe. The ones who turned Grenfell into a death trap were the contractors AND the cladding manufacturer. Tories cut emergency services funding. Grenfell happened and it was an incredibly sad tragedy. Then in December 2019 the UK voted Tory again, now we’re in the midst of one of the greatest disasters in living history and once again, we are struggling due to Tories cutting NHS funding and we rely on underpaid, but incredibly talented and hard working medical professionals to save lives. But it’s ok, because the c*nts that voted tories despite all this, purely because they wanted their sh*tyy c*nting Brexit go outside and clap at 8PM on a Thursday night each week. I’m beyond disappointed at both the general public and the tory government. It makes me sick to my stomach.

I feel like I should make some things clear as someone who's actually from England to those outside of the UK. The firefighters telling people to stay inside there homes is normal procedure for building fires such as this one, its to avoid people panicking and blocking the exits in their haste to save themselves. The flats are, normally, built to keep the fires contained as such the best thing to do is stay inside yours so your not stopping the firefighters from reaching the flat in question and putting out the flames. The fire spread too fast and was way too hot for the inflatable devices to be put down safetly, there was nowhere for them to go down without them being popped by the heat or destroyed by falling debris. There was no room for helicopters to get close, smoke was blocking their sights and as out of control blazes are not as common as they are in say Australia we are not at all prepared for them. The fire in Grenfell Tower was not a normal fire, it spread so quickly and got so out of control there was nothing anybody can do. Don't blame the firefighters who risked their lives to save all the people they could and don't blame the person who owned the flat where the fire started, he was the one who called 999 and got the people off his floor out. Blame the people who ignored warnings about how sprinklers should be installed, blame the people who thought it was a good idea to put illegal padding on the building which is the reason it burned so quickly. Blame the company who owned the fridge/freezer that exploded and caused the fire which was apparently a common thing with that brand. Blame the people who ignored the residents that repeatedly told them that the place they lived in was a huge fire hazard.

The truth is the people who built the tower put cheap flammable filling in between the walls because they didn't want to spend millions on the people who lived there. The fire started by a fault in the fridge freezer. The reason they told the people to stay inside is because it would have been safer if the cheap filling was replaced with more expensive stuff.

Why would they put illegal flammable cladding on the building? I thought England was supposed to be a place that was more sensible than that. I was horrified at what I saw, the screams echoed in the room as me and my mum watched horrified on the screen. I will never forget the morning I woke up to see such a horror of an accident that could have been entirely avoided had they not put that cladding on.

@bass monster yes it was but it was also A case of gross negligence on the councils part. They were made fully aware of issues with electrics and other safety concerns but chose to ignore it, therefore it is a total injustice. This could have been prevented and should’ve been. The fridge catching Fire was an accident yes but the fire should not have spread as quickly as it did, and they knew about this but chose to ignore it rather than pull their fingers out and fix the concerns raised rather than brushing people off. The whole building was covered in cheap cladding, they could have gone for the more expensive option but chose to play Russian roulette with peoples lives and save money with cheap cladding ultimately ended up killing so many people because of the cladding catching on fire which again should not have happened

@@OkOk-sh4oq Multiple fires were allowed to spread because of combustible materials by the windows and within the cladding system. Whilst attempts had been made to construct fire stopping compartments within the cladding, they were "installed incorrectly, and no evidence has been provided that they were ever tested for performance in the type of cladding installed at Grenfell Tower," the report said. -Flat entrance doors were non-compliant with fire test evidence and doors going to the stairs "do not appear to have been upgraded since installation in 1972" -The ventilation system - which was meant to prevent smoke from entering the stairwell - did not appear to work as intended -Issues with fire lifts meant they could not be used to transport equipment or residents up and down the building -The fire service had to pump its own water into Grenfell Tower - the building's "dry fire main" system was "non-compliant" with guidance at the time of construction and is "non-compliant with current standards" These things didn't happen magically. People made those decisions and looked the other way when it came to fixing them. There were people in charge of making sure that the Grenfell building was safe and respected fire safety regulations. Who are these people? What are their names? I want to know! They should rot in jailfor the rest of their miserable lives. The same goes for the goverment and municipal officials whose offices are in charge of making sure the buildings in the city are well built and safe. There are offices and departments in charge of supervising constructions and renovations. There are people in charge of organising firefighters visits to make sure smoke detectors, fire exits, fire alarms and fire blocking doors are present and well functionning. Where were the people in charge of these things? They don't deserve to be free. That is why they should be in jail.

This MUST NOT be forgotten, the people who lived there, their friends and family's suffering MUST NOT be forgotten! Those who knew this cheap alternative cladding was dangerous and sold it anyway should be held accountable. There are still over 200 buildings in London alone that have this exact cladding on them! WHY is that?

It wasn't built with this cladding, and the architect who designed it had learned the lessons of the Ronan Point gas explosion and strengthened the building to avoid large-scale disasters, after the fire he even said he expected the tower to last "another hundred years". Construction on the tower started in 1972 and this flammable cladding was only installed in 2015-2016. A witness in the video mentions that they had just recently installed it, maybe try watching it.

I’ve never seen something so egregious!! Those panels were ridiculous- I don’t know how anyone with half a brain would consider using them! And if only one fire stairs too, that’s nuts. I doubt there were any fire doors. Thankfully, the things I’ve seen have been nowhere near this level of shoddiness. EDIT: No sprinklers??? What the hell?!?! Tragic... tragic... tragic ! So many contributing factors. 1. The cladding was highly flammable 2. There were previous complaints and serious concerns raised about the safety of the building which were ignored 3. People were told to stay inside by emergency responders 4. Fire alarms weren’t working so some people probably didn’t even know anything 5. It only took about 15 minutes for the whole block to turn in to a fireball 6. People had to jump out of the building... which resulted in more deaths It’s a shame, because the emergency services that responded to the first calls and advised people to “stay put”, only did so because normally a fire in a tower block flat is contained in one flat and would usually only affect that floor. However, this was a complete exception because of the terrible material on the building, used merely for appearance purposes. I can’t even lie, If I feel like my life is in danger, no matter what emergency services say, I will still leave. There’s nothing to lose in leaving but unfortunately, there was everything to lose in staying. It’s so upsetting. Britain is so notorious for saying “lessons have been learnt” 🙄🙄🙄 after it’s too late.

@@dumbtch-lk5yr If everyone rushed the stairs more people wouldve died from the stampede. There’s only one set of stairs. Really, the blame is the lack of sprinklers and the illegal flammable material. Those things usually limit fires to one floor and allows first responders to fix the problem. But without sprinklers and with so much flammable stuff the fire spread really quickly and then it became disastrous because procedures are not designed for such mass negligence. I wouldnt blame emergency services procedures, it usually works.

Even now building regulations allow for the building of such blocks with only one staircase for escape. It did have alarms but they weren't loud. The residents had been complaining for years to the council about safety issues and they were ignored. The Inquiry has been hearing evidence that indicates that this type of cladding was falsely claimed to have passed fire safety tests or tests were manipulated to ensure a 'pass'. There was a whole chain of failures presided over by this Tory government and Tory council that put profits above safety.

Water wouldn't help, because burning Aluminum will make water dissociate into H2+O2 which leads to explosions. It's criminal to use aluminum cladding for such a building! It's not allowed in Germany for more than 5 or 6 story buildings.

watched this unfolding live, in 2017, is one of the things, that will stick with me for life, watching this on the news. Theres absolutely no way, the death toll is as low as is made out. Must easily be in the 100s...its also sad to hear that theres been no real help to alot of these people. This situation shouldve been dealt with rapidly and respectfully! Also the fact this building has stood for so long after the tragedy, to serve as a reminder to the people, is sickening man. This infuriates me, a 29 year old male from Scotland...i find it utterly disgraceful how its been handled

Some aren't fortunate enough to be able to turn down housing, even if that means living in a dangerously built block. 😕 I can't believe this cladding is on so many builds like this still.
