Blacktop Filter’Trons sound brilliant in the hands of a master player like this. They work better with overdrive pedals than one might expect. Much better than the Full’Trons in my G6609 Broadkaster.

Fantastic playing. I had his model on loan from a friend and couldn't warm to the slightly flat back of the neck and found the pickups lacking. Just bought a super mint Heritage Series G3140 and it's an absolute knockout.

Outstanding, Bart, as always. If you remember, I've been asking you for some time to hammer down on the Gretsch! I really like that you chose the G5422T. I have a G5422TG in the walnut stain that I absolutely love. I happen to believe that nothing sounds like a Gretsch. Love the sounds that ya got and appreciate you doing it with the Gretsch. You never disappoint, my friend. Merry Christmas.

Really really nice sounds and great playing! Question: on the Fender sounds, what kind of effects did you use on what amp? And what kind of settings?
@BartDietvorst
@BartDietvorst 7 ай бұрын
Thanks! I use a Kemper Profiling Amp for all my recordings and the normal clean Fender amp sounds just have some reverb (for the rockabilly tone it's spring verb) and a bit of compression.

It really sounds fantastic. I have a 5420T electromatic with the blacktops which I'd imagine would be pretty similar sounding. Is the 5422 pretty much the same bit with double cutaway. My 5420T is brand new. I haven't even played it. I bought it one time I really wanted a Gretsch hollowbody and I've just so many guitars it's sat unused ever since. I'm surprised how good the 5422T sounds "just strumming" like in the middle part. I was a bit skeptical thinking it would be more suited to say.. lead or rockabilly style playing.. and maybe have issues with feedback. Whereas my talent, or lack of it, means that I'm more of just a country/punk chord strummer.. but maybe it'll do okay for that. I think after all, one of the guys from Rancid uses a Gretsch.

These can be versatile guitars for sure. I had a 5420 too, I believe that has a thicker body but is very similar orherwise.

Great playing and great demo. I'm considering this model or the 5622. Do you have any issues with feedback with the 5422?
@BartDietvorst
@BartDietvorst 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! I only played it in my studio and not live with a band so I really can't say. Hollow bodies are always prone to feedback. It does have a sound post in the body which gives a little bit of improvement.

Fantastic sounds and playing, many thanks for the video. How is the playability, how easy is it to play? I wonder does this guitar feel bigger than a ES-335?
@BartDietvorst
@BartDietvorst Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Playability is a bit dependent on a decent setup, the one I played had a poor setup and high action from the factory. The body is a little bit thicker than a 335.

@@BartDietvorst thanks! Am I correct Gretsch has 18th fret neck joint, how good is upper fret access?
@BartDietvorst
@BartDietvorst Жыл бұрын
@@80daytripper Yes, pretty decent with the double cutaway. I think you just have to go to a dealer and try out one for yourself to make sure it suits you!

Beautiful sound and look. A question: is the bridge fixed to the top? Any tuning issue!?
@BartDietvorst
@BartDietvorst 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes I believe it's pinned. This one had a nut that wasn't filed correctly at the factory so it got out of tune fast. A proper setup by a luthier should fix that.

Can anyone tell me what the differences between American made and Korean made guitars are.
@BartDietvorst
@BartDietvorst Жыл бұрын
The pro line Gretsch guitars are made in Japan actually and I believe they only make their master built guitars in the US. The more expensive, the better the craftmanship and parts used but the Korean ones can be great too. Maybe change pickups or something to make it closer to the more expensive ones.
