wow now this is ironic I was watching a video on Gretches then started just listening to two guys playing while I went on FB and then I heard you playing the blues which you do amazing at especially for a guy not exactly living in the missisippi river delta lol The ironic part is I just bought a used Gretch streamliner YESTERDAY to play blues and slide on. Got it at at Nashville Used music. I was thinking Id love to hear someone who can really play blues play one of these. Well your model is close enough because it has the same pickups I believe and now I am really imspired and glad I grabbed it at a great deal $300 like new. This has the lowest action I've ever played and no fret buzz!! Just cant believe what amazing quality for so cheap. of course it makes it a little tricky playing slide but I just have to play a little softer because no way am I going to change anything. May try a little thinner slide with less weight and see what happens. Any way Ill be watching for those blues lessons Mr Budda. $ love da show

I went for the Riviera Blue, Gretsch G2622T and I'm so happy with it. Took a few days for it to sink in it was mine. Fantastic review..I just bought the Gretsch G5422 tonight and was subsequently looking for other opinions of the guitar (it'll be here in 2 days) I decided to change from just Telecasters for 30 years and this seems to be a good 'All Round' alternative... Budda, you are sincerely a fine guitarist. Thanx for your video that is more than a reviews. I've seen it more than once just for listen you to play. I've already a Les Paul Classic guitar and I'm searching for a new instrument that allows me to play jazz and blues. Until some days ago, I was determined for the Epiphone Joe Pass model, that is basically a jazz guitar. But after hearing the sound and versatility of the Gretsch G5422T I'm very confused. The warm I've listened in your playing brings me to this choice also for jazz situations (that aren't the most part of my music) and let me to have good sound for all the others styles and genres. The price gap is not a problem for me. What a difficult choice!

Great video Budda! I have a G5420T and I had the same feeling about the treble bleed on mine... eventually I had it redone and still can't hear it. At this point I can only guess that the blacktop filtertrons are not a good match for this wiring, they sound great but get really dull once you touch the master vol. Congrats on going on such level of detail on the video!
@BuddaGuedes
@BuddaGuedes 5 жыл бұрын
That has nothing to do with the pickups. You just have to get the correct value for the parts on the treble bleed. It varies from player to player and from pickup to pickup. But it's always doable!!! Thanks for your great comment!

Hi Budda, Thank you for the video, nice demo ! I have one question, What make your sound so warm in the beginning of the video ? I really like it. I ask this question because most video you can watch on youtube show this guitar (and most of other gretsches) with much more much more medium/high frequencies and less bass, at least to my ears.

It’s probably the way I like to ear the guitar, I’m not a great friend of highs, and brightness, so I tune the amp to a warmer tone.

What was the fuzz pedal you used and called it something like "budda fun"? How come that there is no huge feedback for the higher gain tones? Mine suffers from feedback when I use fuzz pedals (JHS Muffuletta for exampla) or high gain settings on me Mesa TA30.

Budda Guedes it is a low tension spring that transforms the way bigsby works completely... For the better! the effect is more dramatic but way more controlable at the same time. You need very little touch to make it work it is amazing. Best 10 bucks spent in years

Grande onda! I have Gretsch G5120 and the pickups can not be raised up, and moved very little down (I have no idea what make of PU they are). The neck PU sits close to strings, and the bridge PU sits very low to strings. So, when switching from neck PU to Bridge PU there is a large loss of volume in the bridge pickup, per it I so far from the strings. I know that I can adjust each of the PU volume knobs to equal volumes, but I rather not. So, on this G5422T, can you adjust up or down the pickups to get equal volume?

Tom G Hey Tom sorry no one replied. I've had a 5422tdc for a couple years now. It is fantastic. Especially for the money. My brother played a show at the house of blues in Chicago with it (no feedback issues ever live in high gain situations). You were asking about pickup height adjustments; yes you can raise and lower the pickups as well raise and lower the pole pieces per pick-up depending upon your preferences. (TV Jones has some set up directions as a place to start.. find your tone from there). Best of luck! You won't be dissatisfied at this price point!
