The first time I heard of grimes I was working at urban outfitters, helping a lady out with her purchases (checking her out) and she had a tote bag with grimes Visions record printed on it and I was like what’s that? It’s really cool. And she said it’s grimes, check her out. I went home and was immediately hooked. The countless runs and bike rides through the cities I lived in, the snowshoe days spent listening to grimes when painting, and now in my healing journey, listening to her non stop and it’s helping me re-embrace the weird and artistic side of me. I don’t care how much people hate on her. She is an artist in essence. Thank you grimes.

I used too. I did love singing. I really like about 30% of her stuff. That may sound like a low percentage, but I don't see it that way because of that 30% I enjoy--I think it's some of the sweetest music ever created. As for what you described, that's normal. Don't worry, you'll eventually grow out of it and there will come a day when you'll be able to be a fan without it being an obsession that adversely interferes with your life. Just give it time and enjoy the music in the meantime. I take it this is your first pop star crush? ;)

I'm so in love with this performance - this is genuine, ladies and gentlemen. The girl is truly into what she is doing, totally has that flow and energy. And she is so natural and real here - like a pure child :) And this performance of her feels so REAL even on video. yep, it is a bit close for sure. A Forest is probably my favorite Cure song, but really anything early live is outstanding if you can find a good recording of it. Portishead, The Cure, Grimes, super early Ministry, Warpaint, Late of the Pier, those are the ones that me and my girl can groove on. She doesn't dig too much of my metal but some and we ALWAYS come back to The Cure, always.

I am a music composer, very amateur and I don't use professional software, but I have to say that creating music on the software I am used to is not as difficult as actually mastering a piano, and I know this because I grew up learning piano and while the basics are relatively easy, playing with both hands is a skill that can take a long time to develop, and there are many techniques with piano that are very hard to nail, I find it much easier to write melodies on software. While I agree that making music is not as simple as pushing a button, there is still a pretty major difference between writing music on a software where layers can be played automatically, and actually mastering an instrument like a piano.

And when I say this, understand, I have a public KZfaq Grimes playlist from 2012 and most of those videos have been inundated with comments about Elon Musk. I die inside for her because of how ridiculous it is. It's one thing to say, I found out about you because of Elon Musk! That's actually awesome. But that isn't most of the comments. They're mainly just trying to be quirky and get likes and it's so insulting to this woman's career that existed so long before she had a really interesting and awesome boyfriend. He's cool. But she was cool before she met him. I've been too big of a fan for too long to let that slide.

I think it's really cool that Grimes is very aware of the fact that her vocals needed some improvement......it takes a strong mature person to be able to take criticism and work with it instead of getting defensive. I remember an interview where she was talking about learning to play the violin in addition to improving her vocal skills. Compare some of her newer stuff to this.....huge difference.
