4:30 Jim's father is the one that put that saying on his grave. According to the Admiral, it translates to "True to his own spirit".

@shazam1969ish Jim's father was a good man who had the typical values of his generation. The negative aspects of their relationship have been wildly overblown.

i am Greek. ''δαιμων εαυτου'' (demon of one's Self) is considered to be the deity that lives in side each man from his cradle to his grave and protects him, guides him and helps him to fulfill his fate and grow spiritually...(ancient Greeks did not believe in ''demons'' as evil spirits as the Christians do. they didn't believe in ghosts either and they were not afraid to visit graveyards). the Christian equivalent would be of ''demon of one's self'' would be ''guardian angel''...or a type of internal Philemon, the spiritual guide of Jung described in the Red Book'' (Liber Novus). thus, ''πραττω κατα τον δαιμονα εαυτου'' means act and live ''true to one's own consciousness, true to one's own self, true to his own spirit'/soul'. very suitable for someone like Jim, that defied society's conventions. like his French idol, the enfant terrible of poetry, Arthur Rimbaud. RIP Jim.

The level of detail, care and compassion you provide in this video is what sets you apart from other content creators. I was six years old when Jim died and at the time I had no idea who he was, but I clearly remember friends of my parents playing The Doors when we went to their home.

I saw the Doors in the summer of 1966, I'm pretty sure, at a summer music festival in, I think, Woodinville, WA., before they were all that popular. I had no idea that they would eventually become as famous as they were. The next summer, 1967, they had a hit song called 'Light My Fire".

You know, I gotta admit - when "it's mind blowing to walk where Jim lived" was said, I got chills. Thats exactly, what it is. I've been the Doors - fan nearly 40 yrs. Ever since I was 9 yrs old. And first time hearing The End. It was 2009 when I first got to visit Jims grave and place where he used to live when he died. And - the chills. Man. Paris is the city of love yes, but there is something very dark, something very eerie in the city itself. And Jim definetly is a great part of this amongs every other poet and artist who have lived there. Thank you again. ❤✌

I grew up in France and went to Père Lachaise several times. I went there for the last time a couple of decades ago, and back then there was no fencing, you could still get straight to Jim Morrison’s grave. I believe they started putting up barricades because people would keep stealing the bust on his grave. This is why you can’t have nice things :/

Indeed, my friend and i visited Jim's final resting place back in 1994. There were no barriers. Idiots had sprayed graffiti onto his gravestone and were leaving packets of cigarettes, joints and bottles of alcohol around the grave. We Walked away in a combination of sadness and dismay.

Very good video. I’ve been a Doors fan for most of my life (I’m 55) and there are a lot of conspiracy theories surrounding his death. Sad truth is, he is gone and we never got any more of his beautiful poetry and music supplied by the other members of the band. RIP-Lizard King, JDM.

Ahhhhh Jim Morrison! I had a feeling I’d be seeing this soon and so hoped I would be right!!! Ahhhhh! HOLY HECKENS EXCITED! I just love this cemetery, there’s so many beautiful ones but this one is so beautiful! His death was so sad, I have listened to The Doors a lot, Jim Morrison being part of the 27 club, so so sad… he won’t ever be forgotten, ever! Makes you wonder, if any of the 27 club members, what their music would be like today? I wonder that all the time as I am a singer, (not professionally) but I’ve always wondered if they were still making music how it would sound today, I know they’d be older but I’m curious. And yes… do not touch the bubblegum. That part was interestingly disgusting lol. But great video again besties! So so wild you guys got to visit him! ❤👻🧛🏻‍♂️🦇🐦‍⬛🦉💚that would be scary but cool if he showed up in your shots!

When my son was like 12 years old, we went to the Maryland Deathfest to see only two bands out of the 4 days: 'The Obsessed' and 'Pelican'. So, during the large amount of time we had on our hands, we drove all around taking photos. We came across a very old cemetery that had Rebel Flags in front of the graves of the Confederate Soldiers. He took an amazing color, and then an infrared photo at that graveyard. The infrared has that erieness given the ~30 second exposure.

The one in PR is right below the fort from memory and that’s a great walk. I don’t exactly know your exact history but I’ve always thought you’d be great at movie editing. Another fascinating video from you guys, simply amazing! I was exposed to The Doors at the early age of 4 back in 1967. My dad used to play the album “Strange Days” quite a bit, and I came to know every song, especially “When The Music’s Over” where that line about hearing “the scream of the butterfly” was written on that tomb comes from. Brilliant song. I subsequently became (and still am) quite the metal head, to my parents’ dismay. “Hey dad, you started it all by exposing me to that ‘druggie music’ at the ripe age of 4, what did you think was gonna happen?” 😂😂

ONE OF HIS KING.PERIOD. ! As mentioned in Greek on his gravestone : "true to himself". The Doors will never die, Jim's poetry either and remember : JIM is none of these considerations : he broke through to another side but as a parisian native, musician, Venice rooftop, whisky-a-gogo vibrations lover and some : he lived as a true to himself pushed his journey to the fullest; and remember : Lizards are immortals and Kings are Eternal. He is this very kind soul and creative mind which will last far beyond even if the Earth should disappear. BREAK IT THROUGH TO YOUR OTHER SIDES PEOPLE. Take care and enjoy the journey, the Doors will be open, wherever you think about anything. It will always be strange days waiting for the sun ;) Thanks a lot for this trip that I did A LOOOOOOOOT

I was there July 3rd 1993. I was stationed in Germany at the time. Jim’s grave was the first trip I took. Had to see it. When we got to the cemetery there was probably a hundred people outside camping out. I had no idea it was the anniversary of his death. I had brought a liter of Segrams 7 to pour on his grave but the guards would not allow me to bring it in. So I gave it to some dude outside. From what I remember almost every tombstone had some graffiti telling you how to get to Jim’s grave. We had no problem finding it. And when we got his grave it took 45 minutes to get up to it. It was surrounded by people. Back then there was no fence. So I got right up to his grave. People had left poems, cassettes, pictures, cards and there was a candle burning on top of his tombstone. It was probably the coolest thing I had ever experienced at the time. Still have the pictures. Very grateful I made the trip. Great work Grim.

I had to comment on my experience watching your video. For Christmas decorations I had placed 2 battery operated candles on either side of the TV. They had been turned off the night before going to bed. The morning after Christmas I was watching your video and as soon as you showed Jim Morrison's grave, both candles came on at the same time by themselves. To be clear, they have never turned on by themselves. Very creepy! Loved the video, and apparently Jim loves it too!

My mother was about a year old when he died, but she is a fan of the doors. Years ago, she made a page on facebook and interacted with someone who knew jim before he became big. It's a group page but it was cool to see that interaction.

You, and Jessica do such an amazing job on your videos! I hope you visit the grave of Jimi Hendrix. His father dedicated a monument to him, which is extraordinary! And quite accessible. Merry Christmas to you both!! And of course, Happy Halloween!

Great choice of opening song, one of my favourites. There's a lot more Rock n Roll connections to Paris than people realise, from Elvis to W.A.S.P., Sid Vicious etc

My brother was into the Doors, me not so much till I listed to a show on the radio about the mystery surrounding Jim’s death. It was really cool. Ray Manzarek kept saying no one saw the body. His voice alone makes it spooky. After that I was hooked. When Rolling Stone put him on the cover in ‘81, He’s hot, he’s sexy & he’s dead that brought in a lot more attention. Combined with Danny Sugarman’s 1980 No One Here Gets Out Alive book. RIP Jim 🙏🏻

Jim Morrison‘s grave translates to “ True to his own spirit “ . Also he did not die in the bathtub, he died at a bar called rock ‘n’ roll circus in one of the Bathroom stalls and a couple of gentlemen took him back to his flat and put them in the bathtub.

According to Danny Sugerman in his book Wonderland Avenue, Pam confessed to him that Jim had gotten into her stash mistakenly thinking it was coke.

@joejones9520 The channel "Daniel Sarkissian" here on KZfaq has a comprehensive breakdown of all the views/timelines of Jim's last days. After listening to all of this as well as talking to someone online who claimed they were at the nightclub that night, I'm leaning heavily towards the possibility he died in the bathroom of the nightclub. The story of his heart giving out in the bathtub was allowed to persist by his friends because it was a more dignified story than the truth.

@@yankeeapple5615 i’m even questioning it if it was suicide. The reason I say that is he had a bottle of vodka and got a large amount of heroin and went into the bathroom stall and just prior to that he told his friend that he wanted to be buried in Perry Lachey cemetery . I’m convinced he had a Deathwish . Jim was a very smart man and he was not a heroin attic so, it makes me wonder.

@christopherlievens I never considered that possibility. He had a history of getting blacked out drunk and doing crazy stuff. It's possible that it was intentional, but if it was, I really doubt he was thinking straight at the time. He had drank himself unconscious in the club on other occasions....

This one will be my favorite episode of all content creators. Nobody has done this one.. and it's just so KEY.. to the past. I"m forever grateful you went there. xoxo They all died right around the time I was born. Janis Joplin, Jim, jimi Hendrix. First it was Jimi. Then Janis died; she followed Jimi, that autumn.. the following summer Jim went. That must have been a hard time for music fans.
