Keep it up man. You've been nailing a lot of questions for people. Also, would love a vid about how good technique physically FEELS. Like which muscles feel loaded, or where the torque feels built up and how to get there.

Excellent suggestion. As someone who has reached a confident place with my dg, I find a lot of beginners benefit from generalized feel/flow/instinct/timing descriptions that avoid too many "technique" details.

That's a great idea! I think it might be a very difficult thing for me to describe tho, I still might take a crack at it sometime 🤷‍♂️
@micah_lee
@micah_lee 3 жыл бұрын
For me, that would be soooo difficult to describe. Like at first I honestly felt like there wasn’t a feeling. Maybe it is subtle. I was thinking back to when I was messing around and intentionally mimicking bad form (rounding, bad timing etc) and I definitely know it feels different. Also, some things feel right for me but isn’t the correct technique by far. Just food for thought. I saw a post similar to this on reddit, but they mentioned that Lifting has certain feelings you get when you do it correctly. The only thing I have experienced like this was diving into pools. When you do it correctly, you go quicker through the water and it feels like the water is moving over you better.

@@micah_lee For me, I think there is an explosive feeling when I leave the power pocket, especially because my body is rotating so fast and the disc is leaving the power pocket so fast.

I noticed today that I throw nose up sometimes I believe due to an imbalance of when the disc last touches my fingers beneath the rim versus my thumb on top. I feel it's important to make sure your thumb last touches at the same time or after your other fingers to keep it nose down. I feel like the nuance of exactly how the disc rips out, off which fingers and when exactly during the whip action is never talked about in form videos... It's very fast, but imbalance in grip position and strength is also a huge factor in off axis torque at release.

@@EzraAderholdDG Well not that surprised since you bomb 600ft, gotta stress the body at some points. I saw that Eagle sometimes tape fingers but I don't think that is due to joints, just to protect the skin from not ripping apart. I suggest you ask around (other pro players etc), don't let the joint problem get worse if it starts to emerge often. I can not currently throw drivers with backhand power grip, have to use a fan grip or throw side arm. Good luck and stay healthy!!

The best analogy I've heard for years is a tube of toothpaste. My dad raised me pretty much in a golf cart. He said you squeeze it like you would a tube of toothpaste. Because what happens when you squeeze too hard, toothpaste comes out, what can never fully go back into the tube, he also used it as a metaphor for saying things we don't mean, when we're mad.

@@EzraAderholdDG I’m assuming you’re a golfer yourself. You, me and, Justin should play golf while you’re in the area. I’m on the liberty disc golf team by the way.

I notice when I throw forehand consistently I tend to get a little spot on my middle finger where its getting tore up. How do I stop that. My grip has always been exactly the same as yours. I just somehow can never stop it from happening.

You could try using electrical tape possibly, that's what I use for backhand

Good diet and consistently workout, hit chest 2-3 times a week. I try to use weight that gets me close to failure at like 7-12 reps for everything
