A grizzly bear crossing a bridge in British Columbia’s Babine River Corridor Park gave a group of visitors a fright on September 30 when it suddenly lunged at them.
Video filmed by Jay Dupras shows the bear slowly crossing the bridge. As it approached Dupras the bear lunged towards him and several others standing nearby, but diverted after someone in the group gave a shout.

I would never in my right mind position myself closer than 300 meters from a grizzly bear let alone 3 meters.

Let me get this straight . . . a group of Canadians scared off a bear by saying "Eh?" in slightly raised tones . . . 😂🤣🤣🤣

I doubt that the bear was scared of them, he was probably just not interested in them. He started to turn towards them but then kept going just because he sniffed them out and then just was like "nahh". Animals will often sniff someone, another animal, etc. out and use their smell to make their judgement on if they're interested in them or not. If that bear was very hungry and there were no salmon or berries around, his reaction to them would've been much different. Yelling "EEHHH!!" at the top of their lungs wouldn't have made the slightest difference in the world. Them pointing a double barrel at him would've been their only hope

British Columbia has some of the most beautiful mountainous scenery. It'd be a great place for hiking and camping if it wasn't for the fact that there are bears, bears, and more bears.

The bear was just saying keep your distance, this is my territory. This bear crosses all day long and because many fisherman come all season - every year, it is used to people. It's mother was firm in her stance as well, so he learned well to protect himself. He wasn't harming anyone. He was such a good bear to teach people bear behaviour. If you spend a lot of time with bears, you learn if they are being curious, assertive, fearful, etc. If you fish here, carry bear spray, plain and simple. Remain calm, stay still, don't run. Talk to the bear in a calm voice. Well this is what you should do - but now the bear is dead. Thanks to whoever was feeding it this past week. Up until then it was not a food conditioned bear. To everyone who runs from a bear, you're just teaching it that it can push you and others around. In two weeks this bear would have been hibernating. It is a crappy year for salmon and the river is high... it was life or death for this bear to get enough to eat.

If human's continue to enclose on their territory and antognise them eventually someone will be killed or the bear will be killed. Obviously and very sadly in this instance it was the bear. It's just sad as it's the animals that become more extinct. People like to keep challenging the wildness stupidly while them themselves have no savvy of living among the wild. It's no different to stupid dog and horse owners.

The bear had an attitude look at his face. He looked pissed off. Why was he so mad? What are these bears up to?

@@jaredfontaine2002 He uses the bridge to cross the river, as the river is high this year. He is just asking with his body language for them to back up to give him space. Just like when he is eating a fish along the river bank... raven flies over to grab some of it and bear does the same move telling him to back away.

@@cindylewis8123 He was pissed off when he got up to them. He passed people in front of the group filming and didn't do anything. He was pissed off that he was being filmed. You can see in the bears face he rolls his eyes. He was pissed

@@jaredfontaine2002 you are assuming a lot. The people in front of the group was not filming, and yes did nothing but let the bear go by in peace. This group knew nothing about this bear or his behaviour and instead of backing off because of their lack of knowledge and having bear spray ready, they stood there filming the bear in a huge group which was obviously stressing the bear out.

Bear was shot because these jokers with their kids thought this was funny to not get off the bridge and provoke this incident waving their cell phones in the bear’s face - access & fishery severely restricted because of this incident & at least that’s good for the bears -

not really foolish people. opportunistic bear. That was a young bear that does not fear humans. He has learned that you don't approach a group of humans because they are not food. in this instance, they will start making loud sounds and there are several humans. They were going to make him fight, and he didnt know the odds of making out unscathed/with a prize.

The bear was stressed, it had its mouth open, and commonly when there stressed out they will do that lunge. It’s not being foolish or cocky.

Everyone is asking why they were so close to the bear. Well, I imagine they had no idea the bear was there until he appeared. At that point, I don't know where they were going to go other than just stand still and remain calm. I didn't see any cars to get into...
