I am blown away by the response to this video! Final Fantasy certainly has a strong enthusiastic community and you love to see it! What Final Fantasy content should I react to next?? 👀

The cat chick you thought was evil is certainly not evil. She was chastising the white haired elf guy for wanting to do nothing. She said that she and her companions would fight until the bitter end. She’s one of the best characters in the series and is one of the good guys.

A small detail: the same dude you saw in every trailer was a stand in for the player character. In FFXIV you can customize your character but he's meant to be a representation of you as you play through the game. That's why he changes to so many different classes.

if you play the game dont skip any cutscenes and read the dialogue, the plot is consistent from level 1 to 90 and missing a part of it will affect your experience, this is the best story a game has been able to tell in so long, the ffxiv community is addicted to watch new people experience and react to the game because it is that good and we love to watch others drop their jaw, cry, and laugh during the entire thing

Also, for a size reference for the dragon, Bahamut, in the second trailer: Someone did the math, and his wing span is 8 miles across. It's a GIGANTIC dragon, that has been locked in that moon for some 4000 years. At this point, it's VERY angry.

For someone who knows nothing of the game, you're not as far off the mark as you think. It shows how good the visual storytelling is in these trailers.

First trailer was back in original ff14 before a realm reborn the 2nd trailer. Basically ff14 1.0 was a complete $&?@ show that to change it instead of cancel or make another mmo is pretty much destroy old ff14 world, gods intervene to protect it and reborn it. A realms reborn is a vastly big update that fixed the core issue while making it part of the story. If wanna know more of it there is a documentary by no clip going into details with even interview the devs on it.

EVERY SINGLE TIME I see the Scions praying to help against Bahamut, I tear up, probably because I'm aware what happens to some of them and I got attached to all of them.

26:60 That armor being intense is pretty much canon, yes... the people there wearing that style of armor, armed with spears, are called Dragoons. They are basically elite soldiers, trained in mid-air combat using aether(mana, if you will)-augmented jumps and dive attacks, specializing in fighting dragons. The reason their armor is so, pardon the pun, edgy, with lots of spikes and blades attached to it, is because they are so commited to killing dragons, if a dragon eventually swallows them during combat, they at least want to make it hurt the dragon just as much by ripping them up from the inside.

To be fair, you should not fully understand a story or game via the cinematic trailer, it should just peak your interest to get into it and learn, yes?

Fun fact, the first trailer was from the original release of the game. Due to problems with the game, the servers were shut down. The events of the second trailer were an in game event in the months leading up to the shut down. Mobs got harder, and the red moon got closer and closer. When the servers shut down, this trailer was released. Leading into the revamping of the game, which released as "A realm Reborn." which takes place five years after the events of the second trailer. So after trailer three, you get into the expansion of the base game. Each expansion trailer features the newly added "classes' or jobs added to the game at the time. The game is a very story driven MMO, Where most MMO's give you leveling experiences to get to end game. This one, gives you a story to keep you engaged with the game on your way to the end game.

Fun fact: The Leveplate (card thing) in the first trailer, depicts Saint Elaine, one of the saints of the twelve in the lore of FFXIV. She was named a saint because she saved her town from getting caught in a tornado by feigning having gone mad to get people to evacuate the town.

For reference the original ARR trailer transitioned directly from the wizard teleporting the warriors away and getting engulfed into A New Beginning.

"Louisoix Leveilleur" was the name of the old man elf who sacrificed himself to amazingly beat that dragon who was also known as pretty much "The king of dragons" and still save everyone! hes a legend in the game. :3

The real world story of FFXIV is almost as epic as the one in game. A documentary was made telling the story and can be found here on YT.

Seeing someone watch these for the first time gives me so much nostalgia after having played the game for 10 years

Finally someone else recognizes the Giger influences in that scene.

That was really fun, I liked your commentary. FFXIV is my favourite game so I love these reacts. That you without any context whatsoever said Y'shtola is on Zenos' team is so funny to anyone who has played the story. But you did a lot of really great calls, props for that. Thanks for this!

I've always loved the double meanings of some of the FFXIV expansions. For instance, Heavensward can mean toward the Heavens, as you pointed out, but it can also mean Ward of the Heavens, as in a warden who fights in the name of the gods.
