My grandma hazel, god bless her as she's passed away now, was exactly the same. My uncle is 6'7-8 (post surgery lost probably an inch) 360 used to be a bouncer and part time construction, and she could crush him into the dirt with the love and care she put into her cooking. Southern hospitality on her end.

@Anzu Wyliei sorry should have explained better lol. Some farms will allow you to purchase a cow, hog, bison, etc. and pay whatever they would have gotten at market value (almost always less than what you would buy it for pound for pound at the grocery). The farmer may arrange for the animal to be slaughtered or you may have to take it to a butcher yourself but you'll get all of the meat.

Poor is better, because people in Africa DO have food to eat. They don't always have money. Many people are starving in America. I see homeless people often. Real starvation is everywhere. Don't go for premium stuff like bison, mainly. Bulk buy. Chicken tends to be a lot cheaper (and leaner, depends on whether you think that's a good thing or not) than red meat. Lots of calories can come from oats, rice, potatoes - all things that are cheap, especially when bought in bulk.

@Anzu Wyliei I'm not keen on farmed fish, there tends to be a lot of buildup of crap in them, and lots of antibiotics. But lots of people swear by it. Good source of lean protein if you're going for white fish, and it allows you to vary your proteins a bit which can help it not get boring. Non-farmed fish is expensive, though...

@Anzu Wyliei If you watch some of Brian's old eating videos he used to eat Swai every day, one of the cheapest fish. I'd recommend it too.

They’re raised on ranches for this specific purpose. I have a bison ranch near where I live. You can buy jerky, steaks, ground bison. You can thank our ancestors for the destruction of over 60 million bison.
