Well, if you're literally immortal, continuously living the same day over and over again, everything just wears out, and even being selfish gets old (there's only so much selfish thing you can do in one day). So, he just tried to play the hero. Of course, I'm sure even that will get old eventually, but at least it'll be less boring than being selfish (which is doing nothing). The man is just trying to find a way to pass the time. I know I would.

It could mean that, but it also could mean, maybe he wont save him from breaking his leg, like messing with the kid since he never thanks him, meaning he knows he does fall out of the tree, and that he has saved him from the fall in the past because he has never thanked him for it. He does know that he only breaks a leg and the kid will be ok, so "maybe" he will be there to save him, or "maybe" he wont, depends on if he is around to save him or not.

Phil after an endless time in one day is learning to master good deeds... "Man reacheth perfection through good deeds, voluntarily performed, not through good deeds the doing of which was forced upon him." ~ Baha'i Faith
@pixelcake483
@pixelcake483 3 жыл бұрын
@Mister Guy But he did live a perfect life. Jesus is literally God becoming human so that he may live a perfect life and take the punishment for our crimes upon himself. He lived, suffered, and died because of his love for us. If he wasn't perfect then his death would be meaningless. If he did not rise from the dead his death would have been meaningless. As a side note, by saying "even the guy at the center of your cult." followed by saying "You can like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars or the Bible, whatever fantasy franchise you're into is fine", you have insinuated that both Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are cults. The use of the word "cult" is off as "cult" generally refers to beliefs and practices regarded as "strange or sinister" (google's first bullet definition) and Christianity is a widespread religion not usually considered either of these things. Comparing the Bible and Lord of the Rings or Star Wars is also improper as the Bible is a religious work dating back thousands of years believed by many to be true and it includes various accurate historical accounts while LotR and Star Wars are fantasy and science fiction books/movies/various forms of media that are not intended to be believed as events that actually happened.

@Mister Guy Lord Jesus was a Messenger of God - they are Perfect. Normal men are not in their Class (the Chosen of the Chosen) but can improve... even to becoming a Saint (i.e. the Angelic nature dominating the Animal.) Baha'u'llah of the Baha'i Faith is in that rare Class along with Krishna, Zoroaster, Buddha, Abraham, Moses, Christ and Muhammad Who comes about once a millennium. It is interesting to me that he holds his back like he still feels the effort from previous catches. Does he remember the physical alterations? I mean, playing a piano changes the structural movements in your hands and wrists. He could be the healthiest person to ever live if he never ages but can retain the changes from events on his body. I know not everything can be accounted for in the movie but as a philosophical question its interesting. Also his memory stays intact..I am going to have to find the book, noone can be mentally strong enough to cope with that kind of repetetive action, as a species we are hard wired to understand ending not continuing endlessly. I suspect the book is somewhat darker..

Man, this is truly a fate worse than death. Because death is not an option (at least, it doesn't stick, which is the same thing). Imagine being forced to play one dungeon of Final Fantasy over and over again, and you don't have the option to quit.

I would hate to see a remake of this film as I don't think it can be improved upon. It just has such a timeless feel about it.

Damn, never considered the fact that Bill Murray didn't ask for a stunt man, a child dummy, or an edit in between the catch and lines after. He legit caught that kid. I don't think the part where he's stretching out his lower back after the catch is acting, that's a ton of force on the back with a kid that size and falling from a height that's above the shot.

Maybe he knew that, so he'd give an accurate response in the scene.

I am sure that he didn't actually catch the kid falling from that height.
