A really informative video, clearly explained the rationale and circumstances for using the chosen products on sandstone paving which makes perfect sense.

I think you did the right thing here you just need to make sure the sub base is nice and permeable too, sometimes a sub base of 20 to dust compressed well barely drains at all then the water just pool below

@@tidybrickslandscaping when pointing with sand and cement, how do you avoid staining to the sandstone?

@@Wayne-pb5zx sealing it first helps but only if it’s been down a while and get yourself a grout bag from Amazon and pipe it in like cream on a cake but use kiln sand very fine no blockages 👍🏴

@@tidybrickslandscaping I’ve also heard of people using mastic guns to apply various compounds into the joints. Is that a thing?
@tidybrickslandscaping7 күн бұрын
@@Liverpool1nemore so for brickwork jointing those guns as the gun would be level rather than downwards hence the piping grout bag is for downwards filling 👍🏴

Always traditionally point sandstone and concrete slabs but if customer asks for joint it or eazyjoint im happy to do but so far haven't actually done anything different on sandstone just traditional point . Porcelain I either grout or easyjoint (use other brands too). I recently just grouted Limestone and that looks amazing, just about to put a video up of that.
@tidybrickslandscaping7 күн бұрын
Traditional jointing is always the best especially after years of trying all these new grouts out sod that get the mortar back In there. 👍🏴 I’ll keep a eye out for that video of yours
@jaspermillerlandscaping61747 күн бұрын
@tidybrickslandscaping completely agree, , I love the look of a decent traditional mix with sandstone, but I do see why people prefer using the brush in as it's just so much easier, especially with the weather we have 🤣, anyway hope you're all good mate, glad to see you back on the tools and videos 🔨👷♂️🎥

Will this product wash out when pressure washing? I'm looking for something to use between my patio slabs which are on sand. I was thinking kiln dried sand unless there's a better option.
@tidybrickslandscaping7 күн бұрын
Just kiln sand is not good it’s bound to wash out with a pressure washer. Joint it is ok as long as it’s forced in but never as hard as cement 👍🏴

@@tidybrickslandscaping always puzzles me when they say these polymeric sand shit things have to be laid on a permeable bed but we use a 6-1 mix thats nothing short of concrete when it goes off? what constitutes a permeable bed then? had nothing but problems with them. the last time we used one i drilled a series of 8mm holes down the joints into the sub grade. this seemed to help with drainage.

I've just done mine today with a 5:1:1 Mix (5 Sand : 1 OPC : 1 Hydrated Lime). A builder mate advised to seal the slabs BEFORE pointing which I am glad I did to help stop staining from the pointing mix. Once the pointing has gone off - might seal the whole thing again including the dried grout. Thompsons one coat (Screwfix). Tidy.
