A beautiful, delicate filler, flowering in June and July.
If you have ever struggled with Orlaya grandiflora, this grow-a-long will change your life!
Our super fresh robust seeds germinate brilliantly from an Autumn sowing.
Seeds will only germinate when conditions are right so don’t worry if you have to wait several weeks for the first signs of life.
Plants are pre-programmed in nature to remain dormant until conditions are perfect.
If we experience a warm autumn, pre-chill in the fridge for 1-2 weeks before sowing.
Leaving the seeds uncovered, I find that light aids germination. I find my seeds typically take 3 weeks to germinate.

Your videos are the most helpful!! I'm in the U.S. (Washington State) and direct sowed Orlaya about a month ago. I will do your method as a backup as well! Love the step by step videos and seeing them in bloom. 🌼

Thank you for showing us how the plants progress. I’m a new subscriber. Since I’m watching this long after you’ve posted, it would be very helpful if you could include the dates and your zone.

Hi Zoe you have been great at sharing your wealth of experience and your Spring and Autumn jump starts are great. I have had trouble with Ami, Daucus, Chervil and to some extend Orlaya are they all carrot family? I am thinking that it might be carrot root fly attack as seedling were healthy but by ones and twos are going purple leaved and dying. Any ideas?

Hi Ginny It's more than likely 'root rock' it's be very windy of late and if plants are not properly staked they can loosen the tap root from their anchoring and the first you realise the plants are inexplicably dying. I have a video on the subject which I'll link below, fast forward to minute 6 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/abaif6aDt6fef5c.html

I’d forgotten this seed on my summer seed order. Now that it’s in hand, what are my chances of starting some indoors. Lisianthus, snaps and sweet peas are going well. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’d love to get started with them.

I’ve found they like the cold fluctuating temperatures of Autumn for best results

Is it to late to sew them directly in the ground (outside) in march?

Yes, they need cold to germinate and will flower in May so not enough growing time x in September you can join in with me on the Autumn Jump Starter x

Disaster! Something has bloody munched half my seedlings! Didn't even eat them! Just mowed the tops off them all...😭 Went to sow more seeds and none left...😭 Oh well, I'll have to make do with what I've got left. If they survive.

EEK, its most likely a slug/snail. Have a look underneath the pots to find the culprits
