I have been searching for a video that explains grow lights completely in a way that I can understand. You nailed it!! Thank you so much. And I love watching your videos. Keep them coming.

I use Sansi 250 watt equivalent "regular" bulbs and have had amazing growth even on high light plants like succulents. That said, you can see the diodes, they're not the typical looking bulb like an incandescent so that's likely why. Ive never had success with making a plant THRIVE with a store bought LED though I have had success with maintaining the plant. In fact I have 7 of the sansi bulbs covering the majority of my plants, then I recently got 3 of their mini clip lights that are actually grow lights much like the halo except much brighter and better quality and I only have two Sansi grow lights and those are for my monsteras and my bird of paradise in a room with no natural light. I have lower watt Sansi bulbs that are better suited to bring the light in your ceiling fixture despite having great light color they simply have too much filter going on for a plant, though I think a plant would love them in a lamp with an already decently lit room just as a way to get a bit extra. In my area in summer it's only dark out for about 5 hours and then it's starting to get bright again but in winter it will be BLACK out by 430pm and barely bright by 8am so plants, humans, pets etc all need lamps in every corner or your barely surviving 😭 for me, it makes sense to use the same lights year round with timers and then come winter the lack of natural light still gives the plants less natural and they really need to use their supplemental lighting. My friend who gets 12 hours of sun daily year round only needs to add lights to spaces that need them as his windows will do the job otherwise.

Just a little add on, for the foot candles foot-candle (fc) is equal to the light produced by one candle at a distance of one foot. It is also defined as equal to one lumen per square foot. And 1 lux is equal to 1 foot candle.

A real problem I've encountered is that the cable is too short. I've had to rig up extension cords for most of mine, and discovered that some lights won't work with it. I wish that manufacturers would include a longer cable from the start. The other twizzle is that you find most sellers say it's "full spectrum" and you have to just trust that it is. To be honest I'm surprised that your Soltech manufacturer was allowed to market the light with incorrect information in the first place, showing how easily false information slips through the net, but well done they did something about it quickly. Last summer I had a Bambino fiddle leaf fig in my window, I moved it up onto the sill and within 20 mins it got a burn/tan. It wasn't a lost cause of a leaf I needed to remove or anything but it was red and discolored. The window is North North-West so the direct sun was literally sunset. That was my only instance of a fiddle being a tantrum thrower. Anyway, the reason I'm doing this is BC you should NOT put your grow light up and turn it on esp for a full day over a plant that hasn't acclimated, without checking it every 15-20 mins for the first day or two! Some lights also throw a little bit of heat that your plant also isn't likely used to so that could also cause stress or burns. I have an aloe that's largely neglected BC otherwise I'll kill it with kindness and one day I smelled something funky and it had decided to touch the light bulb and scorch, now I check where it's leaves are at 😬

Thanks, have thought about maybe getting a grow-light. I'm a bit surprised at your talking about incandescent bulbs - do you really still have those in the U.S.? Here in Europe production was banned around 10 years ago.
