Hello Will, Thank you for sharing your thorough review and feedback on the INFINITY 2000 Expansion Battery. We take your suggestions seriously and are actively adjusting our approach to product development. We truly value your input and are addressing these concerns with our R&D team. To date, none of expansion batteries have been delivered to users, and they will not be available in the market until we have fully addressed the safety concerns. We are continuously optimizing our products based on your suggestions, including improving the XT60 Charge Port in the next iteration, along with addressing the other issues you've highlighted. We are committed to enhancing our products and ensuring they meet the high standards our customers expect. We appreciate your contribution to improving our offerings and hope to keep you updated on the progress. Thank you for your dedication to quality and transparency. Best regards, The Growatt Team

Unlikely while everything he is saying here is correct... that doesn't mean he has the expertise to do it himself, he could certainly hire his own team to do so though. Also there is a good chance different teams designs the battery and the main unit... and may have been given the connector specs as external requirements.

I saw the original video and enjoyed it. Also saw your note that you removed the video. So also enjoying this video. Whenever you make a mistake, it's definitely the right move to delete the video and start over. Even if the product is a total piece of trash, you still have to be accurate in your review. That has nothing to do with being afraid that the manufacturer will be angry that you pointed out that their product has problems. Everything you said in this review video sounds good.

With everything being equal, I'd say the new benchmark for power stations/ solar generators, is the Hysolis unit. It has a almost perfect design and function. Plus it has great features that compete with diy systems. The one thing that could be added to all of these systems is a CME/EMP protection device built in, and make it replaceable in case of a CME or EMP does occur.

Thanks, Will. As I mentioned in my long comment on yesterday's (now deleted) video, the XT60 plug, in general, is sore point. Any solgen that has a DC input of 60V or more should have a connector that twist locks into place, such as what Bluetti is using on the AC200L that I now own. I destroyed my Growatt Infinity 1300 when the XT60 managed to wiggle itself loose while 600W of solar coming in. Reinserting the plug caused an arc that fried the electronics inside. Growatt honored the warranty and I got a full refund. But all of this could have been avoided with a decent connector. And, yes to all of this that you observed . . . 1) Don't use the same connector on matching boxes that serve different functions. 2) Physical buttons are always better than a blank slate of plastic on the case and a flaky app on the phone. 3) Don't step back to 60V on the DC input when your previous flagship model (with a smaller battery) had 100V. I do appreciate the manual Bluetooth and WiFi on/off control on the front panel button, as Hobotech observed in his review of the Infinity 2000. Thanks again.

Great video, as usual. 48V nominal DC systems, which can (especially while charging) be about 55V or a bit higher are generally considered by electrical engineers, OSHA, Edison Institute, etc. to be “safe” and subject to the 50V or lower rules. However, building inspectors have their own interpretations and a lot of power, so in some jurisdictions one may have to treat them as over 50V systems.

Love this channel and the work here. I don't think it's fair to say to fire the engineers on the project as we don't know the conditions at the company, deadlines or anything else that went on that lead to these issues. The issues are very bad, that's clear but even very good engineers make mistakes with poor leadership, bad timelines or their concerns are side stepped for the sake of making the quarterly P/L statement. I don't think we have enough information to attack these engineers. They don't have the final say in their timelines or what's released.

The wifi dongle likewise just refuses to connect to the central server despite the blinking light implying it's working and it also just refuses to connect to the 2.4ghz band of my router for some reason, and the app is just terrible on top of it, crashing constantly, connection issues etc. Whoever is in charge of that company has no idea what they're doing.

With the XT style connectors: it is important that battery outputs be tied to a FEMALE XT, NEVER a MALE. When a male XT is wired into a battery, it makes a hazardous opportunity of shorting that connector with a screw driver or random piece of metal. (statistically speaking). Just by changing the XT polarity to "socket" (female) on the battery unit, would solve this particular problem.

Most of these companies are obviously not designing their own power stations, they are just branding OEM builds and have very little in-house expertise themselves. Not only are they unable to recognize problems before the units go up for sale, they also have no real ability to fix any of the problems themselves. This reminds me a bit of the "new" Sungoldpower all-in-one.... except it isn't new. Its *exactly* the same hardware that Renogy used in their all-in-one 2 years ago... complete with all the bugs and hardware design issues. The design literally wasn't changed at all even after 2 years. And even the OEMs are often oblivious to serious issues. Very few brands have enough pull with the OEMs they use to actually get issues fixed. Eco-Flow might be one of the few that actually fixes things (or at least tries to), but it's an expensive eco-system to buy into. I have two Oukitel P2001's which I love dearly except the AC output plugs swap HOT and NEUTRAL and the fan doesn't turn on soon enough. I hacked the fan (just added a resistor in parallel to make the firmware think that the temps are hotter than they actually are), but so far no luck getting the units torn apart well enough to be able to fix the HOT/NEUTRAL swap. Fans not turning on soon enough, and cheap fixed-speed fans instead of PWM fans, seems to be a cancer on this industry. They all focus on trying to keep the units quiet and let the power electronics inside fry before turning the fan on. Drives me nuts, because it vastly reduces the life-span of the units to do that because they are allowed to overhead even when running at low loads. In anycase, as an electrical engineer myself (by education and trade for 40+ years at this point), I completely agree with your criticisms of the unit. To be honest, I always wanted a battery port on these power stations... just a straight connection to the battery (through the BMS of course), to the point where I open them up and add the connector myself. But I would never make a solar input and a battery output connector be the same type and size. -Matt

Will have you heard of a Rubix rb5100 battery?. A local guy sold us one have never setup our solar. This battery is still in the box. The manual isn't real helpful and this company doesn't have a website.

I wish both this, and other other batteries did, is have a charge rate button, a charge state button, and an auto-on function, all of these buttons should just cycle through all available options with a small indicator on the screen for the current option. For charge state it wouldnt be realistic to have every charge state down to the 1%, so maybe 2 buttons with intervals of 5% one button for the minimum charge state, the other for maximum charge state. Also i dont know if anyone has tested, but the IOT on/off button may be reset every time the powerbank is turned off, i would like it to be a saved toggle. I also agree i would like GaN and a 30-300v charge range(i do like the lower voltage in case i want to bring it somewhere with a single pannel, though that can be achieved through a second plug. I did end up buying just the battery station+solar pannel, but this was before the ANKER was on sale for the same price, IIRC it was $150 more when i looked at it, and i plan to just use this as 'high end' UPS that i may wire up a few solar pannels to, as this is for my server rack that only draws a max of 500w, even when transcoding recorded TV shows. normally it runs under 200w when not recording or transcoding. My Ecoflow is under 2 years old and has already gone bad, but thats the LiPoly version without a way to set maximum charge state, it only runs for a few seconds without grid power before shutting down so i've unplugged it and am using a traditional UPS for the time being, sure it doesnt run as long as the ecoflow, but at least it turns back on after the battery completely drains, and i dont have to worry about it catching fire now that i know the ecoflow batteries are bad.

With 2000w rated capacity, and up to 1000w solar input, i might set the charge range to 5-90% and then add my deep freeze to this, i'll have to see what average and surge power is in that thing but i cant see it being an issue for this unit even if the server rack is pulling 500w. I wonder if with the IOT option i could tie it into my transcode server and tell the server not to transcode if grid power is down, and there is no solar. Normally i have it transcode in the late night/early morning because this is when the house is the coolest, rates are lowest, and shows/movies are rarely any good, but if the grid is down and the sun isnt out, it can only transcode for like 2-4 hours before it would completely deplete this battery

I won't buy any product that I have to use an app to reach all features. It either works on it's own or I won't buy it.

According to Google, 25 mA at 50 Volts DC is considered dangerous. I believe these units can produce more than 25 mA.
