Maryland Farm & Harvest

Maryland Farm & Harvest

Күн бұрын

Despite the historical oppression and abuse faced by African American farmers in years past, Gail Taylor has chosen to write her own narrative to inspire a brighter future for agriculture. The Three Part Harmony Farm, run by Gail in Washington D.C., aims to serve as an example for what newer generations of Black farmers can accomplish. In fact, she aligned herself with like-minded individuals to form the Black Dirt Farm Collective, which strives to redefine the relationship that Black people have with farming and agriculture.

Nice to see Maryland Public TV highlight the return generation of Black Americans reconnecting with the land, soil, and growing food. I have been pleased to observe this transformation in the student body in my soils classes over the past 10 years.

Don't forget about the flood in the 1920's , the Mississippi delta flooded. The blacks lost their land. They were taken up north and put in work aka fema camps. They did not all willingly leave their land. They were not allowed back, let's keep it real... MOUND BUILDERS TIME TO BUILD...

5:01 🤔 I don't mean to be negative but sounds like instead of farms going to family members when a farmer passed away... theyre farms were stolen and divided up. Thats flat out evil. We shouldn't ever allow things like that to happen again. 📢 GOLDEN RULE!!! Imagine if that was happening on your family's farm.
