This little plant is underrated. It is less expensive, more striking, longer lasting, quicker to naturalize, and more appealing to bees than Crocus or Snowdrops, which are pretty much one of the only spring bulbs to bloom this early in the spring.
It naturalizes easily via self-seeding; therefore, to get more bulbs, the plants need to be left alone/not cleaned up after the blooms have passed, to allow the seed pods to develop.
It can come out in profusions straight through well established clumps of other perennials (e.g. Ajuga, Dwarf Iris, Peony that I have here growing in the same border).
