I use both plastic and wood tables. Plastic is great for backyard parties and the wood is great for a more formal event like weddings. The wood is definitely more sturdy but like you said the plastic is lightweight and easy to move around.

I used to work as a waiter for events before I started my business , I only saw plywood tables being used in event halls and big showrooms. The reason is because they are cheap and last a lot, but they are A PAIN TO MOVE, I hated seeing those, I’m a 6ft guy and I used to drag them around (they almost never break but they do tend to splinter if they get hit in the middle) So yea usually I saw them in halls where they don’t get moved a lot. I did see everyone use 6ft because I guess that’s the standard. 8 foot tables are the 2nd popular

Thanks for sharing. Seems to be similar all around. Curse the plywood tables!

Plywood tables can last for decades. Every few years you can sand and refinish to look new.
@TheRentalJourney

Do you find that they are a hassle to transport? (super heavy). There is a number of them for sale here for super cheap ($5 each), but in absolutely terrible condition!
@thetentguy
@thetentguy 5 жыл бұрын
Gorothbalion They definitely are heavy. But we still carry two at a time. One in each hand. I just prefer them for the long run - they can be refinished - so the long run look on profit is typically better than plastic.

Gorothbalion oh - also these are made by companies that produce for the rental industry. We would not buy the wood ones with a metal frame- those are way to heavy.

It's up to you. Start small. Start with something. It's not absolutely necessary to have office or reception area.

Plywood tables are HORRIBLE. I set up tents for a large company and they are so heavy compared to the plastic ones. The splintering is an issue after extended use.

Except I think good plywood lasts a little longer. The quality stuff anyway.

oh wow good job man those folding tables look awesome.... great space saver... the wood is so heavy and it starts to splinter after a while. I think they're a knee killer too. What are you doing for table cloths? What is your business insurance liability?
@TheRentalJourney
@TheRentalJourney 4 жыл бұрын
I need a better source for tablecloths. But right now 20% my own stock and 80% sub renting for tablecloths. Business liability insurance is like $95 a month.

@@TheRentalJourney I am looking for the same thing. I plan on doing that too in the begining. Oh thats not that bad I have to make some calls and see how much its going to run me here for 1m liability just incase a tent blows away or something.

Find 2-3 people you can work with for tablecloths - just in case one of them is low on inventory. Also make sure to get discounts. We rent them for $10 per cloth and rent them out for $15, so we make a little bit on the sub-rental regardless.

Hi there. 👋 I’m trying to open my own rental businesses. What’s the best way to get tables/chairs and tents, and what places are the best ? I know you have a lot of experience now. Thanks in advance.

Do you offer deliver all the time? Or ask the clients that they can pick it up themselves?
@TheRentalJourney
@TheRentalJourney 4 жыл бұрын
Delivery is an extra $75 so for big rentals clients ask for it, for small rentals clients come to pickup

What is you inventory of tables? I just received a call for 100 tables!!! which I dont have. Do you sub rent tables if you need it? how much is your profit if you do it?
@TheRentalJourney
@TheRentalJourney 5 жыл бұрын
I have almost 100 of the 6ft, and about 25 8ft. Definitely need more 8ft! I too was forced to sub rent a little. I think one must balance taking on as many jobs as possible vs not biting more than you can chew. A little sub renting is ok, but I wouldn't rely on it. Takes so much time driving around all those different items as well.

@@TheRentalJourney What is sub renting? Is that when I rent from someone I know and then I deliver it and we split the money?
