I did this method with my lophophora williamsii on 7/26/2023 which are running near to a year in their incubator container! This method worked so amazing. I got 25 to 30 good sized heads that’s popped up so I’m so content! Going to be replanting them this weekend !

I love your plants, today is day 1 of growing for my family. My inlaws are members of the NAC, they are from the Dine (navajo) tribe, I helped them plant their seeds, so hopefully in a few weeks they'll start growing. Good luck and God Bless.❤

Hello, and thank You for the very helpfull, user friendly guide video.. I have a question, I have used celluphane over pots, with needle holes, and I have changed the cellophane because the celluphane godt tender, and they got som air, is it bad before the 6 month expanding to germanise?

Airing the seedlings out is fine, I usually prise the lid off by that stage and reduce the moisture.

Do you use any kind of fungicide, pest control or sterile substrate? Thanks, great video
@greatnorthernexotic
@greatnorthernexotic Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I didn't use anything like that at the time but the most common thing I've seen others do is to microwave or bake the substrate to kill anything off prior to sowing. I will be using this method going forward as my seedlings have had to contend with some moss growth that I've subsequently had to pick out. Hope this helps!

I'm UK (USDA Zone 9a equivalent) - I'm slightly more northerly than you (so fewer daylight hours?) but milder climate due to Gulf Stream. Lophs will always grow quicker with a growlight, for sure.

thank you! Do you think the mix you used compost/topsoil is best or can I also use what I have for my grown plants such as 40% pumice, 20% gravel, 20% perlite or vermiculite, 10% sand, and 10% earth worm castings? I just made the mix for my grown plants and have some left over.

Where I am it is very cold and dim in the winter... and not much better in Spring or Autumn! Never had any trouble with these hardy little plants. As @GreatNorthern says they will grow faster with grow-lights, but unless you get a week or two of frosty nights in a row, cold is not a problem for them. Good air circulation helps though, to fend off fungal infections such as 'rust'. If you want something truly weatherproof and bugproof (and almost bulletproof) try the trichocereus bridgesi cacti.

Is it okay for the water to accumulate at the top and rain down heavily on the soil? I don’t want to open it. But I opened it two times in the beginning to get some of the water out. Idk how much is too much. But I do have mine on a heat pad, and under a grow light. I have cats and don’t want to put it on the window. I payed 50$ for 25 seeds. I’ll be happy if 1/3 of them grew up ok. But should I just let it be? Just completely leave it alone? If you have time to answer it would be much appreciated sir. -padawan john

In my experience, as long as there isn't so much water than its pooling on top of the soil, you should be fine. Make sure it's wet enough that there is condensation inside the tub.

its a cactus. they need it to be moist for as long as it takes to get established... theyre pretty tolerant of water but they dont appreciate wet feet for too long. let them dry out. its what cactii are used to.

@greatnorthernexotic
@greatnorthernexotic 5 ай бұрын
Most Canadians will be living at a much lower latitude than us in the UK so I imagine it's not the amount of sun that would be the problem for you but with a north facing window I'm not sure you'd be exposing your seedlings to enough light. In your situation I'd probably go for a growlight to supplement the natural sun you can offer your plants.

@@greatnorthernexotic Thank you. I do have some grow lights. I guess it's very important in the begging stage. Luckily I live in the South, and also in one of the hottest regions in Canada. It's almost classified as a desert and one of the few regions with wild cactus's.
