This is so true. There are other, high profile examples of such interpersonal destruction; I really wish the spotlight would shine on and continue to elevate Mel/Wayne and the many mid to small channel creators that model such wonderful core values! I follow a group that constantly support each other. Mel’s palette has come in PR during some of their collaborations as well, and it’s just really nice to see everyone being so supportive, collaborating with each other (video right now), and I loved the “My Beauty Community” tag. I will be joining the community with a new channel, with a very unique focus on us people who have textured skin, scarring, including burns and suture scars, on our faces, and what complexion, primer, setting sprays, and powder/color cosmetics work best from luxury to drug store (within a month, getting the last bits and bobs now... and a bit more courage to show my bare face). I only hope to be part of a welcoming community one day ♥️

Wrknmom2 Said no one ever, with naturally curly hair... 😂 just kidding- I have really curly hair and I always round brush mine when I heat style it dry.. I don’t flat iron it anymore, but it’s so frizzy and dry looking if I let it be naturally curly...

I have thick, coarse hair. My Dyson hair dryer has made heaps of difference. I love your natural brown hair, but then again I love every hair colour and style on you.

I wish I had this when I was bald and started growing my hair out. Years later my hair is now again down to my butt. I would look for videos just like this back then. Great series idea ♥️

I'm looking forward to this series Mel! I've had my pixie cut probably 2 years now, and I'm planning on growing it out some. Not crazy long or anything but some kind of lob. I'm kind of concerned about how this transition is going to go, so it's good to hear some tips and see you going through the same kinds of processes.

Hi Mel! The hair is looking great! 👍🏻 Got my Tiny Marvels palette yesterday!! The light purple shade had a small chunk broken (I am not worried about that) but otherwise looks great!! Such a beautiful palette! I’m looking forward to using it. So soft and buttery, love it!

I absolutely love your hair like that! It's what I tried to get during the almost 4 years full time RV living/traveling. I only found one stylist who gave me that look! I finally switched to buzzing my hair with #3!

I’ve shaved my head and then just let it grow and if you don’t trim it or cut it it will all grow eventually to the same length. I love the hair now! So cute!

That is basically true. 😁 Since it is virgin hair, you may be able to just trim it 3-4 times a year. Remember, you are trying to grow it out, so you may go through a couple of phases where the length may be a bit awkward, but it doesn't last that long. 😁 💜 Once you grow it out, you'll be so happy and proud of yourself. Plus, you'll be able to put it up, (in a bun, ponytail, etc..) style it however you like and I doubt you'll ever go back to short hair. That was my experience at least. 😁 💜

@@lisadgingersnaps9843 I told Mel when she started I used to have really short hair (pixi cut) in my 20s. I finally decided to grow it out at 25 and have never cut it that short again. It was the best decision I have ever made. It wasn't easy, it took me 2 years to do, but I'd never cut it that short again. It may not be super long, but it is long enough and I can do so many things with it. I've changed the color a little over the years, but not the length.

I love your natural hair and look forward to seeing all of the cute styles you’ll have along the way! You’re absolutely striking and I love all of your artwork (fellow tattooed lady here)! I shaved my head before as well, then kept it in various pixies from age 17 until 38! Now it varies from jaw to shoulders, it just gets too thin once it gets too far past my shoulders to look healthy (I am on lifelong infusions that cause hair loss). I loved doing crazy colors too, but have settled into my brown hair with highlights to blend the other half of my hair that is... lighting strikes? AKA grey af! 40’s are fun! Anyways, you’re gorgeous and this grow out will be a pain in the butt, but you’ll pull it off with style and grace! ♥️

Dyson Hair tools are game changing. I have shoulder length hair and don’t color or have keratin blow outs done any more. The Dyson dryer leaves my hair feeling great and takes much less time to dry

Hey Mel Hairstylist here!! Yes good decision to stop cutting the sides. When I'm helping my clients to grow out short cuts we just keep cutting the bottom and let the top catch up. Yes you'll go thru an award stage but it will be worth it..u look AMAZING in that pink shoulder length wig. I tell me clients unless they want an undercut they have to leave the sides. You can do it..u came this far!!!!! Can't wait for more updates. And i LOVE my dyson pro dryer.

Your hair looks so nice but I like it when it was platinum. A few years ago I decided to give myself a buzz cut (it was definitely a shock) and bleach it to go platinum. I’ve kept it buzzed and just got tired if the upkeep for platinum. I’m trying to grow mine out as well- not shoulder length but at least 3 to 4 inches on the top. You’re such an inspiration and as always beautiful.

I've had my hair as short as yours is now ... and yes, girl, it is a long haul to grow it out! It will be so fun to watch your progress ... if it doesn't drive you crazy along the way and you cut it again! I know you're going to have some great interim styles along the way😊 Your natural color looks great on you! Even my hairdresser switched to the Dyson ... and that is saying something! She does not switch hair tools on a whim! She loves it.

I have had my hair short and now it’s too my shoulder blades , I like it short but finding it easier for work ( healthcare) when I can just pony it up. Yes it took about 2 1/2 years for the length to come back .

I’m growing out a buzz cut too and I’ve been taking hair vitamins from Kerotin Haircare and dude! They work so well! I’m keeping an undercut and I used to have to get it done every three weeks and now it’s every two. You and I started growing our hair around the same time and mine is much longer. They have biotin, folic acid and a bunch of other stuff. They make your nails super strong too. Highly recommend.

I had the Miley cut (shaved on one side and short on the other) and grew it out a few years ago. U just have to prepare urself for some very awkward moments of hair growth. It’s hard when it looks awkward but u just have to make it work and push thru it. It’s worth it when it gets to the length u finally want it. Just be prepared for some weird ass haircuts a few times for a while.

Mel I have an important question. What would you suggest to someone that once had very thick healthy hair to now losing their hair? I've been thinking of having it shaved off and starting fresh. What are your thoughts about this? I'm excited to watch you go through this process.💜

I use the Strong Sexy Hair shampoo and conditioner and heat style my hair and I can tell you it’s definitely made a difference in the health of my hair!! When your hair get a little longer the Seal the Deal split end cream is my holy grail can’t do my hair without it!!! It makes yourhair soo soft and smooth it the best!

You really look amazing with your natural hair colour!!! I too went from a platinum blonde to my natural medium to dark brown hair and I don’t have any regrets!!! My hair though is way too long, with way too many unruly waves in it that I want to cut it to a pixie style like yours is now!! Just too chicken to do it!!! If I had a face like yours would do it in a flash!!! 😩😆💓

Your gorgeous with any hair!! Also I have been using the heck out of tiny marvels and it is AMAZING! I have over 100 palettes and its by far my favorite!!! Its like it blends itself. All I wanna use now is your palette and my SG singles. I trust u so much I had never tried SG and spent almost 500 on Christmas in July and I dont regret one second of it. I had to email SG to ask a question before I even knew u were gonna have a palette and I let them know they could thank you entirely for that 500 dollars lol I feel like I had been missing out on effortless mattes my entire life before now.

This is so helpful to me right now. I have cancer, and my hair is just beginning to fall out. It's at the stage where it's just very thin, but it's well on it's way to being gone. I've been wondering how I should handle it when it starts growing back. Now I have a hair-growth buddy and someone who knows what she's talking about. Shirley White I went through chemotherapy and my advice is to shave your hair off. It’s very difficult to watch it fall out and it’s more cathartic to shave it- trust me- it hurts but watching it come out is worse. I was bald for over 2 years because I was on chemo for 3.5 years. It’s been a few years and my hair came in thicker and wavier - it’s almost in the middle of my back. It hurts but remember it’s only hair and it grows back. God bless you!! Cancer sucks- I’m still not in remission but every day is a gift.

Lisa Chai, thank you so much for sharing your experience. I have been scared of shaving it off and keep trying to tell myself it won't all fall out. My family won't weigh in one way or another, so getting advice has been hard to come by. I really appreciate hearing your opinion, because I believe only someone who has been through this can understand. I'm so sorry about your extremely long journey and am glad to hear that you're doing better. I will rememer - it grows back - thank you for the reminder.
