@C RD Modern men don't go after a women due to fear of being misjudged and falsely accused since everything is toxic and offensive. Back in the day, there were real ladylike women to chase unlike now. And you said modern men don't know what they want. Who said women are the primary focus in their lives? Do you mean like brown mexican, black mexican, asian mexican, or white mexican? I'm asking because hispanic is a culture and Latino/Latina is an ethnicity and mexican and guatemalan is a nationality. And you can be any race and be Hispanic or Latino/Latina. Oh and I forgot, hispanics and Latinos are some of the most mixed race and biracial people ever.

Black people in the West precisely . We don’t do that in all black nations like where I come from in Ghana 🇬🇭. I only knew about racism at 22 years old while schooling in Cyprus and then Germany. I have. Mixed son who is 9. Am more aware of racism now so I teach him not to pay attention to society and be him , embrace his both of his roots

Tia, I have a gorgeous 22 year old biracial son who’s always been proud of his black/white Spanish background because I always taught him that GOD made all of us unique and beautiful like all the flowers, we all come in different colors, different shapes, different mixtures, and in the end we all belong to his garden because we are his creation. I honestly believe that racism is synonymous of ignorance, lack of values, education and love. 🌹

I am biracial too. The difference is, I am very light skinned. My daughters (5 & 6 and also very light) asked why my dad had different colored skin than us. Thinking quickly, I said, because if we all looked the same, the world would be a dull, colorless place.

I don't even know why you put this out! You making to much out of this, when in reality you no-racial people always had it easier, from slavery to now. A whole lot has not changed. The sad thing about it is how our own black people seem to gloat and adore light- skinned women, especially in the media. And In also notice how the magazine and advertisement is leaning toward the ugliest and blackest "real African." Although I know there have seen the most gorgeous African features that used to be in magazines. They basically do not even show African American models anymore! Is this some kind of back lash? As if to imply, "So, you want black?" Then, we'll give you the most ugliest blacks we can find!" So, stop it! We know what the industry is up to! And it is highly disrespectful and racist!

Tia, honestly when I saw the title I thought "Oh, an attention seeking video". However, when I started to watch the video, I was encapsulated by the beauty and love of your parents story and also ashamed of how racism shaped and affected many of your family's experiences. I truly apologize for prejudging and being ignorant before even watching. I realize how attitudes like this just adds to those negative experiences. So thank you for helping me to check my own biases that I didn't realize that I had. You matter and help make a greater difference than you know. Thank you for sharing and again, please forgive me.

Also if you're assuming that because of her growing up black it still means nothing, many black people who've grown up during her generation very much enjoy being on camera

Thank God both you & your son immediately told your parents what was said to you guys & was able to get advice & feel safe! It shows how great of parents you have + you and hubby are that as your son (and you as a child) was so open to go speak to your parents, as ur son did as well 💜 Love this video!

I remember seeing the twins on TV and it was the first time I had seen myself reflected on tv. My mom is Black, and my dad is White, my sister is a year younger than me, and people called us twins. When sister sister came out people started calling us Tia and Tamera. Love y’all!

Roberta Benson it was very refreshing. i wished that all biracials mixed with black were the same. to admit what they are and be happy with it. it’s still beautiful! i believe we are all God’s beautiful children who have spaces made specifically for us all and it’s ok. they have such a beautiful family 💕🙂

Auset Ausar it doesn’t matter how they view themselves.. biologically it took two diff races to create that person, they are biracial. black americans are the worst when it comes to talking about race 🤨🤨 when you mix blue and yellow, you don’t get just yellow or just blue.. you get a new color that came from both. trans ppl don’t feel like they are the sex they were born as, and yet they still are no matter how they feel. it is what it is

Even Tia feel uncomfortable saying the word racism (being called a nigger was weird)smh, she thought she was exempt. If you are so knowledgable about racism why don't you explain it? Funny how her father didn't explain racism to them before they experienced it, because it is their system and they overstand it completely. I heard it said that P.O.C. do not choose white partners, whites choose them based on their ability to go along with racism, and I have never seen this logic fail. @Lucid Dreamer she's talking about the difference in conversation. White people might talk to their kids about police but their race doesnt tie into it. Black people have to talk to their kids about police AND their race and how to interact with the police as a BLACK person.

This was such an interesting video! As a Canadian Biracial woman not only are the dynamics different between having a white mom and a black dad, but also from just being raised in Canada with Canadians… When I hear things like this it makes me feel resentful towards white Americans. Canadians are not like this, so separated and race focused! It was at a Canadian airport where I , a Jew, who immigrated to Israel, was "randomly" searched. My Christian friends were the ones who told me that I was pulled aside after the Security person stared at my Star of David necklace. I was 60 years old at the time. I am quiet and not disrespectful. I was told that it was random, but this was repeated in 4 other airports in the US. Each time I was told that it was a "random" search.

I loved hearing your story, Tia! I have a white mother and a black father. I grew up in an almost all-white environment (besides staying at my grandparents’ house on weekends) so it was so interesting to hear that there was a whole group of mixed kids that you hung out with when you were young. When I was in elementary school, racism was directed at me from both other students and teachers. My complexion, my hair texture, and my curvy body type were always picked on and I never felt attractive or good enough. I transferred to a very diverse school for my middle school years, which is where I met the wonderful man I’m engaged to now... and he also happens to be biracial, lol! I love to hear stories of how other mixed-race people grew up. Thanks for sharing. ❤️

I definitely experienced many of he same things you did growing up! Like you said "LOVE HAS NO COLOR" and my parents endure a lot of crazy things choosing each other, but they are still happily married after 31 years together!

The Mowry family were true role models for my twin sister and I. We loved Sister, Sister, and how loving and compassionate people and Tia and Tamera were, on and off screen. We learned about their biracial background because it was incorporated into the last episodes of the series, and it opened our eyes to some real issues they faced in their lives. It didn’t matter to us that they didn’t look like us because they were good people. It is sad that we are still having this conversation, but I commend you Tia for continuing to be a good role model to your son and fans and ensuring that the conversation is steered in a positive direction. I think you should say you are BIracial & bicultural. "Mexican + black" statment said that white Europeans are the default in Mexico. This is false. Spanish is a European language; foreign to these shores as English = all immigrants History states: there would be no Mexico without black people. blacks won the war against spain to setup Mexico. The 1st mexican president was black. 90% of all slave ship docked in Mexico so even BLACK American roots came from Mexico. we need to move forward with correct truths in the future

I can totally relate. I remember my mom (biracial) picking me (seemingly white-ish) up from school one day. the new teacher telling her "the child can only be picked up by her mother"... I will never forget my mom's face, a mix of anger, sadness and exhaustion when she told the teacher she was in fact my mother. It was the first time I've ever noticed, however was also clear to me that it wasn't the first time it had happened, sadly wasn't the last either.

I think my parents tried to hide racism from me and my brother growing up as much as possible by ignoring it. My parents moved into an all white neighborhood with my older sisters and they faced a lot of racism because of that. When me and my brother came along, most of the white people left and other races moved into the neighborhood. Me and my brother went to an all white private school, I liked the school from nursery all the way up to kindergarten. First grade is when I was thrust into the real world and I got my dose of racism when one of my friends introduced me in the morning just before class to his mother and she freaked out and yelled at me right in front of the whole auditorium of students. At the time I didn't know the meaning to some of the words she was using or why she was so upset at me and her child. I was confused and embarrassed at the same time. I also had my friends that I knew since nursery have their older siblings telling them not to play with me or parents out right threatening to take their kids out the school if teachers didn't stop their kids from interacting with me. This caused the school to eventually kick me out. Sadly, when I came to a predominantly Black Public school 2 years later I faced racism from Black kids who didn't want to play with me because I dressed white and talked white as they put it. It was rough growing up not fitting in because you don't meet the social norms that society places upon people. I don't fit into just one box, I was brought up in a diverse family with a very open mind. I feel sorry for those people who live in a bubble and can't open their closed minds to new ways of thinking.

Thank you for addressing this topic! Such an important one it is. Your parents love story is beautiful. I always had that same feeling as you of not fitting in with anyone. It's a lonely feeling and it's nice to know we aren't as alone as we sometimes feel. It breaks my heart that you had to have the race talk with your son at such a young age. What broke my heart was when you said your parents talked to you at around 5 yrs old and now here you are having that SAME talk with your son. Thats how many years later?? I am biracial and have had a very different experience growing up in Australia. I didn't experienced any of what you or your parents experienced and I lived quite a normal life in highschool like everyone else. Never got any hate because of my ethnic background. It really makes me think just how different it is in the US and how thankful I am to live in Aus.
