I live in SE Oklahoma on land that has an old Quince Tree Orchard. Every spring our yard is full of pink and white blossoms from the still surviving trees. The orchard was planted some time back in the late 1800s to help feed the livestock through the winter. The birds, squirrels, chipmunks and deer clear our trees and ground from the fruit every winter. I am told they are a member of the pear family and that the fruit was also used for making jelly. I hope your trees thrive and serve you well every spring when they bloom.

The opening segment of this video is the best one out of all your videos you have produced. Those glorious trees, the stunning views of the landscape (looked like your drone was in action Alex) absolutely beautiful! The shoos were in their element. Great pic of your lovely, solid mansion. I love shopping at those kind of craft fairs, I hope you ladies did well with your sales. Alas, I am thousands of miles away from you. All your jewelry and decorated marmalade jars are lovely. Alex, you look lovely in that dress. I’m glad the fruit trees survived the winter. I have a peach tree that sprouted from a peach pit in my vegetable garden 2 years ago and last year I got 2 peaches from it. They were small but so tasty. I look forwards to your videos every week.

You're such good cinematographers! The opening shots were just stunning, I love the ones of the shwoos in the foreground with that gorgeous Scottish Borders sky. I've never been across the pond, but when I see video and pictures of it, something deep in my heart feels it calling to me. My ancestors are there, I've always had the feeling that's where I'd end up. I hope it really happens some day.

It’s always so satisfying to watch plants and trees grow successfully. A real sense of satisfaction. Your trees look like they’ll give you years of fruit. Your Quince and Medlars look very healthy ! Generally it is best if you allow bare root fruit trees to grow for 2 years without producing any fruit. That way the tree's energy is focused on developing strong roots . If it does flower and fruit in the first two years, remove the young fruit before it fully develops. I have a small apple orchard and when the trees are all blossoming in spring it is a beautiful sight. Your property looks like a painting come to life.

What a beautiful introduction to your video today ladies. I just love your peacock and peahens. They’re so beautiful, especially the white peahen, she’s gorgeous. Man shwoo’s tail is starting to come in beautifully, he’s such a handsome boy, I loved seeing his gorgeous coloured plumage while he was sunning himself on the wall. Your Medlar and Quince trees are doing really well. I’ve had quince jelly with roast dinners, it’s so tasty and Medlar jam is yummy too. Maybe it’s something you could sell at a later date as it’s quite unusual to come by. I’d definitely buy it from you, especially as it would be organic and handmade by yourselves, it would be another way to support you lovely ladies.

Wow! Quince! I love that fruit. I grew up eating quince in Chile. The fruit is not very juicy, but if once you pick it from the tree you smash it against a wall a little (not too much) and you sprinkle salt on every bite, you just might think you are in heaven. It just tastes that good! 😊

Hey Gail and Alex Great display at the fair. I don't recall you ever showing that distance view over the wall before. Stunning... not unlike Alex in that dress with her hair down. A German family friend sends us a little box of quittenbrot (quince bread) every year at Christmas. It's quince puree half dehydrated, cut into little squares and lightly coated with coarse sugar crystals. I always look forward to it. Have a great week!

I planted a quince bush a couple of years ago and this year it was covered in blooms. Beautiful burgundy flowers. The bushes have thorns, so watch out. The fruit are very aromatic and used for jam or dried for the scent.

In the north of Spain, we have quince trees everywhere.. When they are young people cover them in winter to make sure the frost Don, t damage them... We pick the fruit.. It, s very expensive.. And peel it, separate the seeds or the middle and put it in a muslin bag and put the quinces to cook and the bag too.. The pips help the yelly form to make quince jam.. You add sugar and when it is made you take out the bag with the pips.. It's called Membrillo... And it is eaten with cheese all year round.... You don, t put it in jars, more like big uppers and you cut pieces to eat... Good luck... And the quince peels are good boiled in water to stop gastro interitus... It works. There are a lot of uses for this sour fruit.

Yay, I’ve been in one of your videos at Alston !! Haha, bit jealous my partner was in twice.. I bought a Northern Mudlarks marmalade jar, the previous year I bought an amazing dolls eye necklace.. amongst all the other things I bought, it’s an amazing fair and the mustard is the best ever.. no trip to Alston is complete without a trip to the health food shop either.. x

In the US we call them Apple-Pears. Its a common fruit option for school lunch. It tastes mostly like a pear but has the crunch of an apple. I’ve never seen anyone make jam out of apple-pears but it is also not something that I find grocery stores carry. I think I would prefer the jam over the actual fruit, but if you have a chance I would definitely try the fruit. 🍎🍐
