lagniappe just means more or extra. It's a word I learned from @tnog511 What you all are referring to is the radish that I allow to go to seed and I eat the pods. That's the more/extra. I will post a video of how I make the tea. If I’m having body aches or maybe the sniffles I mix up what I call #shotoflife instead of running to the medicine cabinet. Ginger has a lot of the same benefits as radish. I personally add the ginger as a natural pain reliever and settling the stomach. Coupled with radish, this is why I use it. Radish pulls mucus from the deep sinus so its good for respiratory disorders like asthma and bronchitis. It’ an Antioxidant, a great source of vitamin C which is a natural body defense, fiber which helps with digestion, potassium help lower blood pressure, it helps with diabetes, it has anthocyanin that can help with the heart, It’s good for kidney, glucosinolate which is a natural detox for liver, gulbladder and lymphatic system. If you have thyroid issues and have been advised to avoid eating raw broccoli, kale, strawberries, and certain soy products you want to avoid eating radish raw as well. All these plants contain Goitrogens . 1 whole radish, a finger of ginger diced up into a cup of water and blend to a pulp. Pour it in a pot and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and cover with a lid allowing to steep for 10 minutes. Add the juice of 1 whole lemon and raw honey to your liking. Pour in a shot glass. #shotoflife🙏🏽

@growingoutthebox not a lot at all, brother. I'm in a subdivision right outside of Houston. The wife and I are looking for 5 to 10 acres now, but it is hard because I want it to be the right location. I have young boys, and I'm trying to stress the importance of growing for your family. Dont care if they aren't into it, but I told them when im dead and gone at least plant one vegtable yearly in my name as a way to connect with me. Right now, I have my trees in 26 gallon containers, so when we get our property, I can just transfer them into the ground. I appreciate your videos brother keep them coming. Nice land, by the way. Stay blessed, King.

Fantastic garden! 👏🏼 My grandparents planted a brown turkey fig at our home place in the 50s and it is now 20 feet in diameter. In the 90s my mom decided she didn’t want it anymore. She tried to dig it, poison it, back hoe it, and burn it out. Comes back no matter what. The meaner you are to it or the more you ignore it the more it produces! Unreal hardiness here in Northeast GA. Hope yours is the same!

I've just discovered your garden videos, and I love them! May I ask you a few specific questions? How do you come up with enough soil for your raised beds? You seem to find wood chips as your favorite mulch material; do you amend your vegetable boxes every Spring & if so what do you use? Compost? Do you rotate any crops? Thank you for all your gardening tips!
@growingoutthebox
@growingoutthebox 7 күн бұрын
Yes and yes.lol.... Compost s the key. I make my own compost. I don't fill my raised beds half way with debris. I dig half the height of the raised bed into my native soil and fill the hole with the bebries. I then add the native soil to the bottom of the raised bed topping it with my compost. I make peanut meal and use alfalfa. Wood chips are carbon source and good for fungi growth. all beds get rotated with beans during the hottest months and the chop and drop.

That albino spider is taking care of your flowers! He is kind of big! He is probably looking for some bugs to snack on! Spiders are always welcome in my garden any day of the week! As long as he leaves the pollinators alone! I have a lizard that lives in my garden and I see him every morning early around 5:00 am! I worry when I don't see him tho. The first time I met him he was so lethargic and he landed on my porch from somewhere and he was so disoriented and ran inside my house shoe, I picked him up and looked him over and I didn't see if he had been injured but he was ok. I think he heard the water turn on and jumped from wherever he was to get a drink. I let him drink and I fed him a bug I found in the dirt I was digging in and he was a new lizard after that He just ran so fast, after he was feeling better and ever since then he has lived in my garden. He runs fast now so I know he is doing so much better

Oooooh!!! Radish tea for deep sinus healing?! I'm going to try this combo you mentioned!! Thank you so much for sharing 🙏🏾
@growingoutthebox
@growingoutthebox 26 күн бұрын
#shotoflife

@@growingoutthebox Thank you so much for sharing the actual recipe/recommended proportions of each ingredient, as well as the special health considerations (ex. thyroid safety) to keep in mind. I really appreciate it! I understand not running to the medicine cabinet! I don't have a (pharmaceutical) medicine cabinet but I do have 3 modest herb gardens (tea, culinary & medicinal) within my main veg/fruit garden, my herb pantry and I rely on herbs & "whole" foods for 99.9% of my health needs. It generally works for me (consistency is key) and I'm so grateful for the healing properties of plants. However, I've been dealing with a mystery illness centered in my sinuses (TMI: excessive mucus & blocked airways are major, miserable symptoms) and my usual arsenal hasn't fully eradicated the issue. I'm researching several new herbs to add into my regimen but your mention of the radish concoction & its benefits caught my ear. I already have everything on hand! (Well, I need to grow my next round of radishes but that's a cinch lol). Anyway, I sincerely thank you for taking the time for such a detailed response and I can't wait to try your #shotoflife.
