I honestly believe that inside Grubby was afraid of Deadman even though he won’t admit it. Deadman came out of nowhere and immediately began winning top players. I think Deadman proved to him self as well as to the world that he doesn’t need a maphack to win. This guy could have become the biggest European Warcraft 3 legend (possibly even bigger than Grubby and Happy) if not for his behavior where he got kicked out of the SK Gaming team. This changed his destiny. It’s sad that nobody realizes it.

@@angamaitesangahyando685 Nice one! I don't know about you, but I lost mostly because I knew who I was playing against. It made me change my playstyle for no damn reason. My basic tactics were building a rather small army, getting my hero to lvl 2-3 and taking all my peasants to the enemy's base, and while attacking with my army I was building towers everywhere around. It worked greatly. Somehow, I decided I wouldn't do it for no reason.

I read comments like "you had 80 apm back then" or "look at the micro", people here seem to have forgotten, how much gaming gear has improved. In 2003/4 you often still had ball mouses, the keyboards were not designed for gaming and the CRT screens were very irritating - like after 3 hours of gaming your head felt like a balloon. Today's gaming equipment is such a gift, we can be grateful.

I've softened my view of him since I got older, I don't know the circumstances of his life, they may have been very hard growing up in Russia, compared to me in the Netherlands. It may not have held the same weight to him - maphacking - as it would have, to me. Nevertheless, it is wrong, in international context, and competition, to cheat. I'm not saying it was okay. But I do understand him a little bit more.

Deadman was the only European player that could beat Grubby as well as Koreans. He would have been playing versus Happy today if he was still alive.

If you want to study, you can watch replays. Tryibg to getting better is no excuse to cheat, and makes no sense anyway. You get better by being exposed to and dealing with uncertainty and having to scout and plan for real.
