Blizzard still has the original version of TFT that came out in July, 2003. That is, the "0" version with no patches. I wonder how the current pros would do in that original version. From what I remember, Human was the strongest in team games and Elf was pretty much invincible in solo. People don't know this, but bears +dryads is actually the *original* "meat&potatoes" Elf play from 2002 to 2005. The reason why I say this is that bears + dryads has made a comeback recently in some matchups, as a new "meta", but it's not new at all. Literally 80% of solo WC3 players in the OG version of the game were Elf. In the U.S West gate(which I played on in 2002-2005), it was like 90%. Orc was hands down the weakest, not only against Elf like now, but against all races. Lots of people went mass cata pushes as Orc even though catas get destryed in 1 or 2 hits from anything. Humans used back in those days something we never see now, mass sorceress and polymorph. You never saw breakers and very little priests. It was either knights + sorcs or mass gryphs and towers(some things never change). Orc liked to go a mixed grunts + trolls army at tier 1, and then mass raiders with catas. UDS went a LOT more wyrms in solo. I don't know why that is, but it waa almost impossible to play a game against UD where they didn't at least try getting wyrms. WC3 has had over 30 patches in the last 19 years, but Blizzard didn't want any of them. They came about as the result of player pressure, because Blizzard back in those days actually listened to customers. The game was ready some 6 months before release. They spent the last 6 months fine-tunning the game, and a lot of their fine-tunning revolved around balancing units and gameplay. They were heart-broken when players sent feedback that they didn't like the balance. There is a part of me that still thinks the OG version of the game is the best ever. I feel like Orc was not really weak, but just that Orc players just went for mass tier 1 way too much. It would be interesting if Blizzard released the OG version just for people to try.

Idk I played war3 since launch and I don’t remember frost armor being good till a specific buff. Definitely remember when banshees became meta curse and AMS changed the game a lot for undead. And of course the “discovery” of DR 3rd. I remember a period when UD was basically unbearable on mama fountain maps when destroyers were much stronger
