There aren’t any other musicians quite like Beck. Born Bek Campbell, the indie musician incorporates all kinds of genres into his work, and he completely does his own thing, refusing to follow trends or be more mainstream. It’s definitely worked, as he has a Grammy to his name and continues to find success today.
But how much do you know about the man behind the unique music? From the time he decided to mock the rules of the American Music Awards to the fascinating story behind his breakthrough hit, it’s time to take a look at the truth about Beck.

If Beck is never in the HoF it would have nothing to do with his talent but the politics. Christ, even T-Rex is not in the Hall of Fame. That right there speaks volumes.

I know this is a two week old conversation, but I just wanted to add that one of the qualifications for induction is that your first album must have been released at least 25 years prior to induction. 'Golden Feelings' came out in 1993, 26 years ago. He is just recently eligible. I feel he will be inducted. He is very influential and I hear his sound in many newer bands and solo artists. Arguments can be made one way or the other about the validity of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and who they choose to induct and not to induct. However, _overall_ I tend to agree with who gets in and who doesn't. I said overall there. I am shocked at some of the groups and solo artists that are not inducted, and equally as appalled at some of the inductees.
@plyjhny
@plyjhny 4 жыл бұрын
@@LilDroidBlue You might be confusing Beck, with Jeff Beck. I doubt this other Beck will be inducted. Golden Feelings may have come out in 1993 but I do believe it has to be an album of merit. Unfortunately, Beck has been unable to meet this criterion, he might in the future though, so there is hope.

Last comment i saw him utter on CO$ , after being asked about CO$ “ charity” work, went something like this ...... we have a drug rehab program called Al-ANON and they have like a 90 + success rate, so I’m told . The entire answer seemed very sheepish to me . Like, uhm, I have to say something positive and that’s the best he could think of on the fly . At least he didn’t tout the Anti- Psychiatry Museum .Honestly, I didn’t even know he was a CO$ until a couple years ago -even while living in L.A. in the 90’s- and am SO glad I didn’t as I would’ve absolutely not gotten to enjoy his music as I would never knowingly contribute money to anyone who might in turn give it to the CO$. We all have to draw the line somewhere, and that’s mine : Even got to enjoy seeing him play live in Nashville, TN. At a festival , as I still didn’t realize he was CO$- could’ve justified perhaps he was only 1 of many- the Violent Femmes blew all the other bands out of the water that night , in my humble opinion.

I wish you hadn't cut that Futurama clip from 'Bendin' in the Wind'! He goes on to say "and also, I forgot how it ended!" 😅 One of my favourite episodes, from one of my favourite cartoons, featuring one of my favourite musical artists.

@@cammoore2420 yes, if u watch the interview with him and his band on the boat, he mentions it when the interviewer is talking with him about if he likes any today's artist. (But of course, for that time)

I wish someone would talk to Beck about radio 104.5 in Philadelphia, This radio station was the first station to stop playing Dreams & the only radio station that never played Wow. Why? in 2015 when Dreams came out Beck was at radio 104.5 Philadelphia alternative with his two kids. As word has it, one of Becks kids was molested by someone at radio 104.5 when I called radio 104.5 about playing Dreams or Wow I was told a lot slander & lewd remarks against Beck, his wife and his kids by the senior vice president of programming for radio 104.5 YOU WOULDN'T BELIVE SOME OF THE LEWD REMARKS AGAINST BECK SAID TO ME BY RADIO 104.5 PHILADELPHIA ALTERNATIVE

Love the vid. Only dislike the fact that you guys pun in the part about Scientology. In a recent interview he stated that he isn't a Scientologist (anymore).

It seems he wasn't one to begin with. "I think there's a misconception that I am a Scientologist. I'm not a Scientologist. I don't have any connection or affiliation with it," Beck told The Sydney Morning Herald in what marked his first comments in years about the longtime rumor. "My father has been a Scientologist for a long time, but I've pretty much just focused on my music and my work for most of my life, and tended to do my own thing...I think it's just something people ran with."

Right. He would specifically ask interviewers not to bring it so he didn't have to comment on it. When they did it anyway, he couldn't refuse it without risking losing his family. He was clearly uncomfortable in those interview and tried to move past it quickly.
