Me and a few buddy's are going to do an insertion, set up a remain over night position to observe movement on a trail, then exfil in the morning. One of the guys is a retired LRS-D guy from the 70s-90s. Its going to be a lot of fun. We will be doing 25% security through the night and we will have thermals. 2 of the guys never been in the military, it will be all new for them.

This is so reminiscent. I also live in the PNW. We hunted elk like this. 10-12 deep. Communicating. Following the herd. We would fill 5-6 tags that day, often more. Split the meat. Spotters ate as well, not just the shooters. Everyone got their cut. Everyone was essential.

This is exactly what I’m planning on doing some training with the boys soon, gonna be spending the spring and summer doing stealthy setups like this

went out this weekend in appalachia area of kentucky, did hiking, and built a fire in the shittiest conditions. it's not the hardest thing i've ever done, however working with a partner, it's comforting to know that we could do all that and provide warmth and safety for our family if needed.

I went to PLDC in Camp Williams, Utah. I was a mechanic (63/91H) but the rest of the guys in my class were 11B and one 12B (Sapper tabbed). We spent a week in the field and they taught me how to set up an OP. A year and a half later I was in Afghanistan on a 3 day mission with SF and showing a couple of them how to set up an OP. There are just some things grunts and engineers can teach you that operators can't...and thats kinda sad.

We used to patrol in four man teams in the jungle. Set up LPOP's along trails. Concealment was easy, noise discipline was the hardest part.

Gotta love the ECWCS clothing system... warm and dry in crap like that. Seems like a lot of movement to get comfortable for being in both visual contact and within earshot of the target, but i get the presentation

Good video. One thing I would suggest is to rig your poncho on an angle as there are virtually no true horizontal shapes (or straight lines)in nature. Something my Dad taught me about deer hunting. That horizontal shape is likely to be the back of a deer.

You need to purchase and become experts at operating civilian drones. I bought a micro drone and have been practicing room and structure sweeping. If I had a long range drone when I was doing arty fire adjustment in the 90s I would have felt invincible.

I see you have a Bundeswehr ground pad..I have several. They aren't much for insulation or comfort, but they keep you laying on the wet/cold ground and are ultra compact.

Maintaining operational disciplines in otherwise peaceful times is extremely wise. And remember, the greatest form of camouflage is being still, or moving as little as possible. Movement is always the first thing that gives you away. That is especially true if a drone is trying to find you, and its too far away for you to hear it.

1m 6'2 245 XXL long Is all i can get in surpluss gear it gets tight quick. Even the combat shirt is tight. The shirt/jacket fits ok i haven't tryed the wet weather yet. I was hoping its over sized. In the civilian world i backpacking mt climbing snowshoeing and looking for the worst weather to go out in. I must say i don't combine the two. With the exception of silk or mid weight thermals.

seting up a quick cam that shows your own spot is good in the case during the swap out that the spot becomes compromised that base camp potentially has access to isnt a bad idea. The guy walking back rotate in could easily be walking back into an ambush.

This is exactly setting up a hunting blind improvise....on the spot. I find that British dispersed pattern cammo is best suited for mountain pine n conifer environments. Just the right amount of brown.

Good content, as always! I'd put a stick or bungee on the front of that poncho to delete that straight horizontal line. Super obvious in my mind, but then I don't know Jack. More obvious is where the OP "is". Exactly where I would look for it. Consider a more un-common location, like the middle of a grassy field with one little tree or a field of pine needles among the woods in what most would consider "the open". You know it. You've overlooked it your whole life. A big old buck deer is old for a reason, and much of that is his non-obvious haunts. Hidden in the open, no one looks there. They'll glass over you, and pay no attention to that type of location nearly 95% of the time.

Another good reason to keep the woods around ones homestead pruned and trafficked by the dog pack. Reminds me of hunting when surviving for real. That ground gets warm and you get cold and wet. Leaves you blind for what’s behind and aside you. Still, good demonstration of how efficiently we can hide from humans.

I like your "real world" approach to your tactile training. You didn't tie 25 "F"ing knots that a 18th century sailor doesn't know to put up a shelter. Plus you're the only one who has camped out with 2 blankets, significant because my Dad was in the Army in Korea and only had wool blankets and was lucky to have two if nobody stole them. He's gone now so I can't ask him what they used for a "poncho" but I think they had trench coats (maybe for dress). Every winter he worried that we would get stuck out so he made sure we had layers on and a warm coat. He carried his stainless pocket knife (I think was US issue)and p-38 with his keys until he died. I didn't go into the military, Dad wasn't really big on that idea but would have supported me anyway, I enjoy your videos since they're far more practical. Did you say you're in Germany? I would worry if someone seen me with any rifle in the woods out of hunting season, let alone an AR (you know how people are) unless it's private property.
