@@mariaagloriaa because fat phobia is a thing and skinny phobia isn’t . Skinny is still the beauty standard being fat is seen as ugly , lazy and unhealthy . Your comment of not wanting to be over certain weight actually stems from fat phobia . I can’t go to whatever store I want because my size isn’t carried , every ailment I have is due to my weight . Girl you being petite will always be more acceptable than if you were fat go to any plus size influencer and see the comments compared to someone who is skinny .

@@liliancastro4812 your comment is part of the problem you realize. Your placing judgment and trying to invalidate someone's feelings over their weight just like someone does to an overweight person. This is the issue. Whether someone is underweight or over weight there is judgement and just because you may not understand or have experienced being underweight there are a lot of similar struggles between the two. I am someone who has always been underweight and has always received a lot of shaming and judging like I assume you have as well. Actually, a lot of the criticism and negative comments I have received have been from those struggling with their weight. Like my life must be so much easier because I'm thin! I would NEVER say something negative about someone's body or judge them based on their body because I actually try to understand, but I can't say the same for most. You may think people are more accepting of the "thin" look and perhaps that's true from a media perspective but not in real life. I too have a lot of medical issues and some that prevent me from gaining weight (ibs, food intolerance, allergies, low blood sugar, anemia, etc) and then I get millions of comments saying things like "go eat a burger, or milkshakes, that I'm anorexic or bulimic then when i say im not they literally argue with me over it, that my arms or legs are toothpicks and then proceed to fondle me like that's acceptable, and my favorite must be nice to be able to eat whatever I want.....yeah must be. Everyone needs to stop judging the book by the cover because none us know what someone else may be going through or dealing with. I even see skinny shaming by personal trainers because they think we don't have to work hard. We may not have to work hard to lose weight but we do have to work hard to gain anything, fat or muscle. Plus being healthy looks different for everyone and has nothing to do with our size. Sorry for the rant but it's frustrating to see. Also the thing about shopping at stores, I grew up without being able to find my size and still have that issue in some stores. Yes toothpick models made it so most stores Carry smaller sizes but you could say the same now with larger sizes and the body positivity movement. The body positivity movement is actually making it worse of skinny people because it's now seen as unacceptable! Skinny is out and larger bodies are in. Like we have a choice.... all bodies should be acceptable and that's how it should be. Everything you have experienced due to your weight is valid. I may not have experienced it on a personal level but I hear you, I see you and on the opposite spectrum have shared similar experiences. We can understand both sides and end the judgement if we just put ourselves in others shoes and listen. You mentioned the Dr elsewhere, my entire life my mother was accused of starving me because of how small I was. I go to the Dr and they are concerned that I have an ED. Again theres similarities. I took my daughter to her 2 month appointment and her Dr is questioning me on my weight loss even asking my husband if I was eating 😑.

@@mb2233 Judging anyone for their weight you are correct is not right . But the truth of the matter still is that someone being thin is still more acceptable as someone being fat. I’m working with an Intuitive eating nutritionist and intentional weigh loss stems from fat phobia . Her saying she wants to stay between 115-125 is rooted from fat phobia . Instead of throwing the scale away and just focusing on how one feels instead it’s a focus on oh I must stay a certain weight . Skinny shaming and fat shaming are both wrong and yes cause harm but sadly it is not the same . You don’t have issues fitting into an airplane seat do you where you have to purchase an extra seat ? Do you have issues fitting into a restaurant booth ? Do you have issues fitting into an amusement park and feel the humiliation that many feel of having to sit in a test seat to be told you’re too fat to ride ? As far as clothes I know so many skinny girls who will then just shop in the kids or juniors department something a fat person can do also let’s not forget the fat tax added to clothing and all a fat person is told is well lose wight . So again a skinny person will not ever be oppressed because of their size . Both wrong but both different .

It is so true. It is a rare day/week that fat shaming doesn't happen and this is just personally. Not talking about tv, media etc It is crazy how many people feel it is just fine to call out your weight. Not dismissing petite people at all. No one should feel they have a right to any comment even if they are coming from a good place.

Comments they are just as painful and damaging as pointing out my size x

The world isn’t built for fat ppl airplanes . Restaurant booths , amusement park rides , school desks , clothes .
