Hi Nick, First time viewer and new sub. I appreciated your ability to focus on what's interesting and informative. It's amazing just how many reviews I've watched about firearms that consume 10 minutes of my time telling me that the gun is "awesome", "really nice", "cool", "really great" and of course, did I say "awesome"? I was only able to find a handful of 922 reviews on here, this being one of the few. You can buy SIG's 1911 22lr conversion kit for 1911 and it will work with the frame perfectly. The Ati/gsg/Sig 1911 22lr uses that slide they sell as the universal 22lr conversion kit. You can upgrade using 70% of 1911 parts. Mag release will not work for sure. Safety and slide release can work with some gun smithing.

You also removed the magazine disconnect, got a flat spring housing and didn't mention the screw holding the barrel base in, so I guess you removed that too. I have the standard GSG 1911-22 and am so far pleased with it. I also have a SIG Mosquito and GSG Firefly and love them. Keep them clean & lubed and use round nose CCI Mini Mags and they run and run.

2 questions: 1: Would the grips be considered "compact"? (Want to get red, blue and orange for each of my 3 son's as a gift) 2: How well does this particular firearm handle ammo? (Is it picky like the walther p22) THX.

1. No, this is gov size frame. 2. It eats EVERYTHING, you can get a lighter recoil spring from Nic Taylor

Are there any companies still building the custom uppers? I can't decide if I want the 922 3.4 or the 1911 5-inch barrel. If I could find customs I could have both.

@@sdriza I went with the 5inch and it’s great! It’s So easy to land target, there’s no recoil! Shoots like a charm as long as you run ammo it likes. With that being said I’m the wrong guy to ask. I am such a double thinker. Sometimes at home when I take it out next to my CZ po1 I think I might have liked the 3.4 a little more. The 5’ seems like a lot of gun for a .22 round. Haha Anyways … it’s a great gun.

Not sure if you've removed your spring completely yet, it's harder to remove it due to multiple steps.
