Gsp interestingly enough is the best takedown artist in the sport. Most wrestlers got them from the cage, from clinch, grappling but GSP mixed it all so perfectly and did it so explosively. He was really an artist, not just a fighter.

When I was learning tkd, I did something similar when performing a side kick. You're facing forward, then when you lift your knee up to perform the high side kick, your opponent will likely thing you're aiming for the torso so they try to catch it which puts their guard down and the face fully exposed 😅

Almost reminded me of Rulon Gardner who growing up working on the family's dairy farm to defeat the almighty Alxander Karelin. GSP was bully and was just a karate black belt which no disrespect to anyone but there’s ton of karate black belt that never fight in their fight. Not only that he start wrestling and grappling at age 20 and go on to dominate so many top fighter for decade. It just show some are hard worker, some are gifted.

Watching GSP explain his takedown as somebody who played football most my life…. I understand why those guys transition pretty decently. And the fact we get persuaded to wrestle in hs after season. But he basically did a textbook tackle they teach in 6 year old leagues lol
