Hey Sean, a couple things come to mind here. After getting a close look, I can see that this engine is a stroked Windsor. It sounds mean, looks great etc. But in my mind after having built FE based tunnel port 454’s, ( which used a 427 block and 428 crankshaft) that dominated the local circle track competition for years, I would stay with the awesome 427! For those who are considering an FE, and need help in building one, Barry Robotnick at Survival Motorsports is an athuority on the FE. It is relatively easy to source everything needed to build one as the aftermarket support is there, through sources like John Kaase, Carol Shelby, Jack Roush and Dove to name a few. Survival Motorsports has a huge selection. Barry Robotnick was a the guy who ran Federal Moguls Tech Line. Taking calls from the western hemisphere and helping all those customers find parts or properly install them for years. I learned about him when I was hired in the call center at Phoenix branch of operations. We extended the hours of operations for wholesale customers from Colorado westward to Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and Alaska. The company decided that they needed after hours technical support and I was one of the two agents chosen, and I have to say it was the most fun I’ve ever had at any job, no matter what I was paid. Unfortunately the DIY market all but collapsed, and the company realigned its operations. They closed down the Phoenix call center, under much protesting of my coworkers and I. I believe they made the mistake of shutting down or pairing down the Tech hotline as well. Too bad! Anyway, I couldn’t recommend any source more than Mr. Robotnicks shop. Sorry Sean, now some questions as I just discovered you videos this morning. Where did the GT 40 come from? Is it a kit? Where did you find the transaxle? Those are just too damn cool to ignore! And finally, where can a builder source the exhaust system, especially the rotary baffled muffler(?) I knew muffler bearings were real.lol

Hi Kenneth. Thanks. It’s a kit from Race Car Replicas. I’m using a Porsche G50/52 transaxle. The headers were build by me. But many such as GP Headers can build them. The spiral turbo baffles are available from www.spiralturbobaffles.com.

Hey Sean., nice build so far.. I have a question…. How tall are you? When you were in the cockpit starting it up., it seems that may be a tight squeeze getting in and out.
@FordGT-40_MKI Жыл бұрын
Thanks. I’m 6’1”, I have plenty of room inside the cockpit. I haven’t tried, but I am pretty sure I could fit with a helmet on without a Gurney bubble.
