great video - really helps using the brake bias on a pad as well because you can soften the cars reactions a bit and make it feel more stable. Like you said - especially on the MR cars which i struggle with on the pad. I always do a few laps - then change the bias and do a few more. especially if you are running a car or track that you are not used to. Looking forward to more of this type of video.

I'd like to see a cornering guide, seems to be where I lose the most time. Though it's probably hard to drive badly, perhaps you could show some comparisons against a ghost to show where minor mistakes, braking too early, late, hard or soft, when to accelerate etc, will lose the most time. I've used your track guides (and AC setups) for a few years, and seem to match you pretty closely, in terms of braking point, turn in and exit, but still struggle to get round within 3-4 seconds of your time on the longer tracks, despite being only fractions of a second off the best times in the driver tutorials. Thanks. Almost at 15k, keep up the good work.

Great video! Sometimes it helps setting the brake bias to the rear to settle the car's rear end on the turn-in when you lift off the brakes. This is especially is true of N class cars on One Make races. You have to figure out if your rear is oversteering on the braking or on the lift-off, if it is on the lift off - more brake pressure to the rear helps to keep more weight on the back axle mid after trail braking and keeping the rear in check.

that is now how brake bias works without abs, without abs u need to find the balance in the car so the tyres lock even when it locks, example downhill and uphill could turn into having to switch out the brake bias front rear to front , just for those parts of the track

From my own experience, here's a rule of thumb: It's all about weight distribution and drivetrain. *FWD* FF - weight tends to be shifted onwards; so you might want to minimise understeer; set positive bias (+) *RWD* FR - weight tends to be shifted onwards; you might want to minimise oversteer; set negative bias (-) RR - weight tends to be shifted backwards, encouraging the rear to slip; you might want to minimise oversteer; set negative bias (-); MR - weight is well distributed, but you might want ro minimise oversteer; set negative bias (-) *AWD (the trickiest)* Break bias depends on LSD settings, but generally, it should be set where the engine is placed: for front engine cars, break bias should be positive; for rear/mid engine cars, break bias should negative. I the end, you should set the bias according to your driving style. Nevertheless, I hope this helps shed some light into it 😉

Something that you could explain that would make a little more sense in a much shorter amount of time would be this: Moving the brakes to the front will tighten the car up on entry and moving the brakes to the rear will help the car loosen up in the corner. Adjust the brakes to the way you drive so that you can make it more comfortable in the corners for you. .... from a actual race driver

Hey Kie it’s Ray. I’ve with you in the lobbies before. I just wanted to say thanks for making o couple of things clear to me because i had it all wrong. I was doing a great time at Mount Panorama on the Gr 4 BMW M4 and I was actually playing with my bios along the race. I would set it to -1 from “THE CHASE” to T3 and then I’d set it to -4 on “THE SKYLINE” since my understanding was that i needed more brakes towards the front when going downhill especially a steep one like that one. Because with no weight on the rear it would’ve been like pulling the e-brake if if did a +5 or anything near that. But now that I’ve seen your video i understand why i was doing so much understeer on the last Corner of the downhill and i was coming out really slow into the straight since I’d have to wait to get back on power. Can’t wait to get home in the afternoon and test your theory. @6:00 P.M eastern US time I’ll be on Mount Panorama on a Gr4 lobby ( by Name Kie Team)I anybody wants to join. Might do a couple of races if enough people join.

Hi mate! Great video, packed with details, really appreciate it. What do you think about adjutsnig the brake bias on the fly, for certain track parts? Like f.e. have it most on rear for preferred oversteer on entry but decrease it for downhill sections (nurburgring maybe)? Is it worth doing or rather stick for certain setting per track to get consistent with one setting? What real racing drivers do, any information on that? Cheers!

the problem that i notice mostly with FR cars is that if u put over +2 ok u r gonna to save more on front but actually it doesn't turn and in case of hairpin it's absolutly horrible.... while FIA i could test it with the GR Supra who is a tyre destroyer.... and for tokyo expressway tracks who kills more front tires than many other tracks even with +5 i was struggeling so much cause basically this car is pretty similar as MR cars on driving and thats why for FR it's very good at time attack but on tyre wear race it was horrible because it kills already the front so for that car i had to be on +1 or +2 and it was drivable, could equal tyre wear on all 4 wheels but the car is killing too much tires compared at others :/

Great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge! Can I ask a stupid question please: how could brakebias affect the car being under/over for corners that I don't have to brake except tyre wear? E.g. the turn 4 and 5 in Fuji (the big longer corner) I don't need to "brake" into this turn but just keeping half throttle etc, does that mean in this case the brake bias means nothing? I drive AMG GT3 and I absolutely cannot get into the apex as fast as the 911 can LOL :)
@Mike23443
@Mike23443 4 жыл бұрын
911s are an anomaly because they aren't really MR cars. They're more close to RR cars and the weight of the engine sits right on the rear axle all the way at the back. That really messes with how the car reacts to sideways forces. It can handle rear bias because despite the weight shift forward under braking, there's still a lot of mass on the back of the car, keeping the tires at good traction, so the rear doesn't really want to snap out that much. I always feel like I'm driving a dart. Try as you may to upset that car, it will always have that inherent stability, which is paradoxically, very counter intuitive, because you would not at all expect it to behave this way. You'd expect it to go insane and snap oversteer like crazy, but at a certain point, when the tires are thick enough on the back of a Porsche, it just breaks through that oversteer barrier and gains cheat level stability.
