LSD is broken as well as 3rd gear synch but still good fun. A bit much traffic and always at the worst places to pass...

Tell you what! 3rd time I've watched this video and it don't get boring. Love watching the rear view mirror of the Megane rs cup trying it on. Until the road straightens up and it turns into a black speck on the mirror. This guy knows how to drive hard even with a broken lsd. Could listen to that garret turbo spool up all day:)))

Cheers. Well, cameraas are forbidden on the ring so we need to sneak them on. Mounting it on the roof would get me pulled off the track, but I will have a look at a better mountingplace from the inside next time. The black car was a Megane R26 with mods unknown.

Thats right I change gears only a few times because I run a tdi gearbox with long gear ratios. A little too long perhaps.

IF you do get a Cupra R and decide to chip it you should invest in 2 other things as well: external oil cooler and a mechanical torsen diff.

Cheers mate. You're quite right. it's not a lot of space for the turbo in these cars but with this manifold from Pag Parts Turbo it's possible. Stainless steel and double welded. +I heart VAG Cheers. Yeah, it sort of works but it's a LOT of work to get it just right. There's no tuning manual with the product and almost no customer support so you have to know what you're doing. I learned the hard way.

Niel Coetzee RS Cup are nice cars. I had a broken LSD and a worn synchro so I had 1wd out of the corners. All the power in the world don't mean anything if you cannot use it.

Well, the ring is not a high HP track. Handling is more important. You can see Mx5 do sub 8min runs when they are setup properly.

Yeah, I got tired of not having grip out of the corners so I built an AWD version this winter. It's ready now and I'll wait for trackdays. Torsen diffs up front and back with a Haldex controller.

30r turbine is very small and restrictive. EGT more than 1000c.

GT28R is even smaller and would have even higher EGT and higher backpressure. They are ok for less power and rpm less than 6000.

7k rpm and low EGT. Then you should look at another turbo. BW makes some with a good turbineflow. Also PT, just get a PT with ballbearings. I have a 35R turbine with a billet 59mm compressor now and I'm very happy. Also keep in mind the AR of the turbine play a big part in EGT's.

What engine oil you use?

I have oem spec on my bearings so I use oem spec oil. 0w-40 Mobile 1 is good.

I think OEM oil spec is 5w40 or 5w30

@@user-qh2fo5gy8o Yes, oem spec is 5w-30 and 0w-40 has vw502 approval. I've used same oil on street and track. Mobile 1 0w-40 is perfect for this engine. I also add a little bit of sinc.

So it's no Cupra R, but Cupra4 right? Nice. I have a Cupra R (FWD, BAM engine) and I'd like to achieve at least 350hp with 2.0 TFSI turbo and forged con rods :)

In this video I use a Mk1 Cupra R which had the BAM225 engine originally. Later I bought a Top Sport 4 and mixed the two cars to make an ultimate Leon. Meaning I kept the body of Cupra R and drivetrain from the Top Sport. It was A LOT of work!

Yeah, it's a nightmare. I just bought a 2nd car called Leon Top Sport already with Haldex system. So I moved over everything from the Cupra R to the Top Sport. Just kept the frame and Haldex system from the Top Sport.

Pretty hefty conversion then lol, although looking at the power your kicking out you defo need it :D

Yeah, conversion took a lot of hrs. Interior was almost we worst bcs my Cupra R was wideband and Top Sport narrowband. ALl the sugarcubes and contacts had different design... sup with that?

It's painful sounding I know. The synchros had gone and I tried to revmatch it myself. I have a sequential dogbox now. No more problems ;)

Worn cambelt is a biggie when they get close to 100k miles/ 160k km. Rusty floor and rear quarter panels. Then the usual stuff.. If you can get a vagcom with you and run a scan that would be great. £250 investment could save your ass.

Yeah, if they are standard and never modded/chipped they are good engines. Check for regular service/oil change. Good luck mate.
