What's up team! I made my first downpipe with decent success and we take the Celica GT4 to the Dyno at Kinetic Motorsports to see what this thing makes at the wheels on stock boost!

The 3sgte is such a great sounding 4 cylinder. One of my favorite cars right here!

For sure, super hard to make an i4 sound decent but somehow they managed it with this one. As much as I love an SR (because my first car had one, and several since), they really do sound awful. Better than a 4AGE or K series IMO but none of them are great. Toyota did well with this one and obviously the BEAMS can sound pretty sweet but I give the credit to Yamaha more than Toyota. And, thankfully, there are loads of 3ste engines sitting around in Caldinas just waiting to be slapped into a Celica or MR2

@@MrEMVme Yeah that and the LFA's V10 sound incredible (partly 'cause the V10 is an outright race engine, but also Yamaha). Imagine if they'd been involved in designing the JZ engines? Might have had the sound to match the build quality

To be fair, the 3S-GT/3S-GT was Toyota's go to engine for most of their motorsport journey in the late 80s / 90s. They put them on their WRC cars (of course), prototypes, and most famously in the JGTC Castrol Tom's Supra GT500 race car.

damn stock from dealer was 239BHP so if 4wheel drive tranny loss is 20%, its not skipping a beat and makin 196ish WHP

So first and second gear have lower boost than the rest of the gears. If you go boost controller or stand alone ECU then disabling this is something you want to do.

Sick video yet again! Loving the GT-4 content man. Honestly, 198 hp to the wheel on a car like this at stock boost really is quite impressive if you ask me. Now you got me wanting to go get my evo4 dyno'd... Keep it up dude!

Do you plan on getting the Kouki tails? St205 spats,skirts and front lips? I think they would make a great addition. Car looks fantastic by the way, I’ve got an st185! Glad to see someone making content on the gt4/alltrac!

1st and 2nd gear on the ST205 are boost limited to 0.7 bar, the gears above that run 0.9 bar. With a boost controller you can safely run 1.1bar which should see 220-230 wheel 👌🏻

That's not true. The ST205 has no boost pressure limitation in the first 2 gears ;)

Better than my first ss tig job 💯 Bit of advice is too hold the torch closer to the cup I find it easier I've got a shaky hand though 😅💯👌👍🤙

Try adding some more gas flow to your nozzle next time you weld might help a little in part with lowering the voltage a tiny tiny amount. Looks really good dude turned out great 👍

This is like the exact opposite of my experiences lol. First fab project was junk steel exhaust with a flux core and first car dyno'd was a Del Sol S (b16a3 with cams, adj cam gears, exhaust, intake, apex'i afc) and made 187 whp lol.

Good to see the GT4 being loved.. shame the BHP showing its age.... 3rd gear would of been unrestricted. Stock boost controller will be holding it back. Just nice to see celica getting attention on 2022

Did you get boost creep with a full 3" system? Loads of guys in the UK celica tuning scene say you need to have a 2.5 " restrictor in line to avoid it.. Would be interested to see your findings.

You won’t get boost creep on a 3” with stock cat downpipe or a decent decat. The issue arises with the cheap down pipes not letting the wastegate flap open fully and restricting flow through the gate.

200 isn't terrible considering my stock MK3/7mgte laid down 210 many moons ago. Head port, intake/exhaust boost at 14psi got me 298whp/392wtq.

300hp is pretty impressive considering the age of the tech in those things and the fact they're under square so don't love to rev that much. 200hp in the Celica should be pretty sweet given they weigh about 200Kg less than the Mk3 - more impressive given Toyota claimed around 240hp, which would have been crank hp coming from the manufacturer. 200hp is (I think) what they made stock and brand new, cool that it's lasted so well

@ryan tuerck on how much psi ? Mine is making 17 psi on stock turbo......you can use 3sgte gen 4 map sensor if you want to do 21 psi

Unless it has a boost controller, it wont boost fully in 1st and 2nd gear due to the TVSV. It limits it to around 0.5 bar in 1st and 2nd, in 3rd/4th/5th you should get around 0.8 bar

@@84slowrider it absolutely does, the TVSV located on the back of the intake manifold. There is a vacuum line that runs from a port on the actuator to the TSVS. For boost control you delete the TVSV and use the actuator vacuum pipe to a 3 port boost solenoid. And thats for a st205 (rev 3 3sgte)

You should be dynoing it in the gear that's closest to 1:1 that's usually not their gear and almost never second here. Most likely it should be getting dynoed in fourth gear

Yup, 400hp will feel insane…for about 15 minutes. At which point your brain will be in overdrive deciding what you want to do to get the power up around 5-600. 🤣🤣🤣 🖖😎👍
