I have lost my virginity with this game: 1st time sim racing, 1st time mouse steering, 1st time using wheel, 1st time Nordschleife, 1st time modding, 1st time 3 hours endurance racing, 1st time falling in love with Porsches, 1st time virtual goosebumps from engine sounds, 1st time online racing, 1st time understanding car setups ..... can continue but... this was and still is a masterpiece

I miss the old GT1 class. Seeing Maserati’s, Lamborghini’s, Saleen’s, Viper’s etc.. all racing together was insane. I wonder what cars would be in the class if it was still around today 🤔🤔

I once did an 8 hour race in this. I never felt more immersed in a racing game!

GTR2 and RBR ... the living legends

This layout of Spa looks so much smoother. Throwback to the poor Minardis having to start from a corner due to being so far back of the grid.

That grid walk, takes me back! A very welcome blast from the past! Sooooo many fantastic memories of countless hours spent in GTR2.

I haven't raced GTR2 for a long time. Can't wait to get my driving sim back up and running. I love the whine of the gearbox, the scrub sound of the tires. In this sim, you feel like the tires are really biting into the road, straining under cornering and braking, with the car shuddering clawing for grip! Loved it. I think this was one of your best races yet. You were fast and clean. You stayed off the curbs, respected the AI and drove to the limits. Nice job. Excellent video. Personally, I like GTR2 and Race07. Even though they are older sims, they still work very well.

for me GTR2 is still the best Sim ever made. it hat everything. Cars without fucking TC/ABS a propper lobby where you could also chat. The menu was outstanding and although its so old, it simulated day/night switches and had a nice weather system. if a game could do all this just with a new graphics engine..... i would play it for another 7 years

Oh great sim ever. Its made with heart, a love like blood. Its the RBR of the asphalt road racing! Gtr2 forever.

You do a really good job of simultaneously concentrating on the driving and providing play-by-play and color commentary of the race.

All these years later you've done so well for yourself Jimmy, well done mate, I still play GTR2, for me it's still hits the spot for driving sims, the C5R is still my fave.

Did you know that someone's working on a mod for FIA GT from 2000-2009, it should be done soon from what I've seen. It'll have all the cars and proper entries per race, plus all the tracks

Just caught up with this video Mate. I used to play GTR 2 and GT Legends when they came out for at least 5 year . Playing the newer Games now but this still looked excellent .

This gearbox sounds like that kid in music class who just could not grasp the concept of those recorder flute things. I love gear whine from straight cut gears... but this is like nails on a chalkboard at high RPM.

Making a full 6-hours race with that games was the most immersive moment playing videogames after playing a 90 minutes match in winning eleven a day i was sick and didn't went to school

I went to the 2005 Spa 24hrs! This game is the only this that recreates the that same feeling I get spectating, and the same excitement I got from the cars I saw racing in my childhood, it actually has many cars I saw in real life with the correct liveries.

This video brings back memories for me, I believe I was playing it using a Logitech MOMO racing wheel that I got on overstock for $50 when the regular price was around $99.

This always will be one of my favorites race sim, spend countless hours racing and modding. And still very complete to this day. I cant wait for GTR 3 and lets hope it will be as good as this one was.

I've been playing Race07 a lot of late, made me realise just what a great job SimBin did using the Rfactors Gmotor engine.

Hey Jimmy, do you ever shut up :) I don't know what to watch, the race or you in a little window but I hear you loud and clear and I like it ! Someone may offer you a commentary job, you have racing in your soul. Keep doing it, two thumbs up !

Still my fave sim (from an emersion and pure fun point). I think it holds up well considering its age. GT1 is my fave age of endurance racing. Oh dear god i need to get this working on my PC again

The posts on RD about their revived servers made me go and reinstall this. So good.

Getting towards the latter part of 2018 and GTR2 is still a great sim.

Superb racing i got most of the simbin games including gt legends where you race classic cars.

I had this game on CD a couple of years ago on my Potato PC such memories it was. I then found out that it was available on Steam and I HAD to buy it since I had a proper PC and a Logitech Wheel. Still as just as awesome as I remember it!

Good driving. I'm gonna have to play this again on steam. I liked GT Legends and can't wait till next year when GTR3 comes to Xbox. Later.

that gtr series was the best way to learn to race clean, superb phisics, but collisions where the baddest ever, no paint trading allowed unless you liked being ostracised from everybody and their sisters. got started with gt legends, the car sounds alone made me build my first pc for racing sims, then gtr2 came out and it was a freaking blast. i still have like 3 original copies of gt legend and maybe the same of gtr2...friends would try to play them and got back to their console crap line nfs and the likes. this was for the hardcore dedicated among us.

i'd forgotten how good this game is, i must reinstall it now....Good commentary Jim as always..."listen to the whiiiine"..lol.

Man Simbin really dropped the ball. They were the kings in the early 2000's, right from the GT mod for F1 2002 thru Gt Legends and GTR2, but then they just seemed to stall, churning out those endless RACE expansion packs while other devs were busy coding the next gen of Sims. Sure that GTR3 has the nice features of the previous games, but I do wonder if they will be enough to carve out a space in such a crowded 2018 field that has GT racing already very well covered..

GTR2 was my all time favorite sim racing title back in the day. I did not know that anyone still played this amazing title. I will search Steam with hopes of find and enjoying this title again.

Its been for me more than a year since i sadly left sim racing, not forever obviously, my g27 stopped working and we couldnt fix it , now i live in france and i am waiting patiently for when i can get back to racing

GTR 1 was my first "real" sim experience and I played the SHIT out of it while wishing I had head tracking :D First game I could download more cars for as well, but the 550 (bright red) and the Sharkwerks Porsche were my fave`s, think I might get this out again actually :)

I remember there was a very good sound mod on either this or GT Legends for the Shelby Cobra Daytona. You should try the NAP (New Alternative Physics) mod for this as I found it more challenging and realistic than the in-game one. The only disadvantage was I couldn't play online with it but then I'm guessing online is dead now anyway.

Just picked this up in the steam sale, bargain for £1.24! I'm sort of hoping it can be my "pad sim". I have rFactor 2, Automobilista and Assetto Corsa for my track racing sims for wheel work, something that is 1: super tiring and 2: annoying I have to set up my G27 every time I want to play. Previously my pad games were Project Cars and Race07. I didn't really like Pcars, and only uninstalled Race07 (and its expansions) for the HDD room. Hoping this will scratch my "pseudo sim" itch!

Remember this was a licensed product under FIA for the GTR circus. Hopefully the new game GTR3 will give us more experience like the GTR and GTR2 did! Simbin or nowadays called Sector3 is awesome!
