guys, when you're using UHD resoolution, you don't need any antia-aliasing ;)
@RandomUser179
@RandomUser179 8 жыл бұрын
I don't get why they don't understand this or why they do not try turning off AA. Anti-aliasing is pointless at 4k. This channel is trying to sell Nvidia hardware, just look at how hard this guy pushes Gsync instead of properly configuring settings.
@LargeStyle
@LargeStyle 8 жыл бұрын
I run 27" 2560x1440 which is equivalent PPI of 40" 4K and I still use SGSSAA as FXAA and even (low) MSAA doesn't cut it for me. Something like 27" 4K won't need as much AA, but I'd be surprised if it didn't require any at all.
@zywypl
@zywypl 8 жыл бұрын
+sofian senac Not really - with every resolution increase there also comes increase in the screen size, so the overall PPI gain is very minimal - 24" 1080p has 92PPI, 27" 1440p has 109PPI, while 30" 4K has 146PPI, which still is faaar away from the magical 300 where you really don't need any AA. There are few 24" 4K screens on the market, which still have "only" 183PPI, but then again - 4K on such a small screen is irrational, and for me personally 4K on everything less than 60", once you see all the details on such a huge screen you will never want to go back to 30" (at the very best).

Richard, you should never use the v-sync option that games provide if the NVIDIA one (in the control panel) works with that game. GTA V is a good example of a terrible implementation of V-sync. I turn it off in game and use the NVIDIA one instead. It works flawlessly.

+Cossack-HD To be honest, next year's Titan P SLI (>30TFLOPS+16GB HBM2) should be able to run games in 8K 60FPS, but unfortunately there are no such screens yet, or even HDMI/DP cables, not to mention games also don't support such high res.
@DaMedicDemonow
@DaMedicDemonow 8 жыл бұрын
+zywypl From what I'm aware of. All Source games support 8k res, same goes with Dice since BF4. That's all I know. Also about new Titan, are you certain those specs are true? Nvidia likes to put their before release specs high, rumours even higher
@VinkeHD
@VinkeHD 8 жыл бұрын
+zywypl tflops nor vram amount doesn't determine actual real world performance at all. 8k 60 fps at high settings isn't going happen in at least 5 years
@zywypl
@zywypl 8 жыл бұрын
***** Hard to tell TBH untill the cards get released and we get real benchmarks, but 1080 in SLI without any OC already runs maxed out games in 4K @80-90FPS(and I'm talking about most demanding titles like Crysis 3, Witcher 3, GTA5 etc.), so there's still A LOT of headroom left, you can as well tone down the settings from Ultra to High like DF did and play in 4K @120-144Hz, and that's a ~20TF setup, so IMO Titan P/1080TI in SLI (>30TF) should run games in 8K at 60FPS easily, if not on Ultra then at least on High.

Wait you are playing at 4K but using AA filtering and TXAA in Doom when that is not really needed at 4K. Could of achieved the 60fps lock if you disabled AA.

The problem with comparing performance based on overclocking between cards is that unless they're being binned specifically for OC prowess it's not really relevant considering the huge variation in OCing performance between batches

It seems that we need another generation of GPUs to really achieve 4K@60FPS ultra settings minus anti-aliasing (which isn't really that necessary at that resolution). It'll be good for gaming - HDR is gonna be a thing even on consoles, HBM's problems being worked out and is widely available for GPUs, more efficient cards.

I ran Overwatch in 4K on high settings on a GTX 970 and it was smooth as butter (in fact the game auto defaulted to those settings) so I don't think Overwatch is a particularly demanding game and the fact the 1080 runs it in 4K fine may not mean very much.

It would be very, very nice to do this with more pieces of hardware. For instance I have a 970 and I'm thinking to upgrade to gtx 1070 as I'm already playing games at native 4k. Unfortunately 970 don't have near the power to play recent games at that resolution so I would LOVE to se an analisys this good for the 1070. 1080 is a viable option for me too but the price target for this card is way too high for it's final value if compared to 1070. I'm still thinking. Meanwhile, please do this same analisys for 1070!

All 4K G-Sync Monitors are stuck at 60hz so you're buggered if you want 1440p at 165HZ , its why I opted for a 1440p G-Sync Acer Predator last month and a Zotac Geforce GTX 1070 AMP Extreme last week. A 1080 would have been a was a waste of money for me.

The drops i think are related to particle quality, drop them to High or something, the same thing happens to me in my 680 at 1080p, whenever you crash or you see dust particles it drops a lot, but if you drop particle quality to high it stops and becomes smooth.

its just how vsync works from what i think i remember is its 60 30 25 20 15 10 fps I think its done to keep the frames from being inconsistent so instead of jumping from 100 looking at the sky to 60 when you look at a dense forest it locks at 60 the same refresh rate as your screen so frames don't tear and there is no massive drop but I dont know why there is such a big gap between 60 and 30 D: someone smart come help me

As far as i understand and seen in various games, the difference between high and ultra settings is pretty much negligible. So it's not really a thing if you play 'only' on high instead of ultra, especially if you gain frame rates from this small compromise.

Shadow quality is stupidly demanding. You will never notice the difference between low and ultra in game play unless you pause the game, zoom in and look for it.

Not even a 1440p dream, not even a 1080p dream. Mirror's edge catalyst stutters while turning around at 1080p, and the cutscenes are stupid.

Guys, I was running overwatch at 5K 60fps on a single 980 (non ti). This is a stupid test.

Why are you running so much AA with a 4K screen? Doesn't 4K eliminate the need for AA?

Man i have to test it out but to me it seems like 1440P at 27 inches or so is the best bet.
