One of the best scenes in the entire MCU. The pilots didn't think for a moment before forming the blockade which while didn't stop Ronon's ship from crashing it did slow the ship down, keep the damage to a small area as well as gave The Guardians time to find Ronan. And keep the Power stone from touching the ground. And gave peope the few seconds needed to live Also this is one of the best ultimate sacrifice scenes ever as it is not just one but thousands that didn't even thing twice before creating the blockade. They knew they were gonna die but they didn't care

Wish they used this theme more in volume 3. I know the composer changed but the main theme should still be used which is the MCU’s biggest issue. I don’t know how they don’t learn from the success of the Avengers theme being so iconic. This theme was so well done and also memorable, I don’t know why they would just forget about it for the last and most memorable film.

It was there, twice at least. Gunn obviously decided to go in a different direction with GotG 3's music, but you can hear the original theme when Rocket scrapes off the Hellspawn and some other parts, too.

@@austinbate5107 Yeah, there are definitely dozens and dozens of movies out there where entire planets are blown up and billions of people MAY have died. However, it is never explicitly shown how many are killed. this movie has gone on record as the one to actually show 80,000 people DEFINITELY dying on screen. Pretty crazy. Movies like LOTR and other Avengers movies don't even come close to that with only a couple thousand total.

Like I said, there are many, many movies out there like Infinity War where billions, even TRILLIONS were implied to have died, but no film has ever shown on screen the exact amount of deaths that took place to this massive scale. There are articles written on this scene in GOTG and how it literally shows 80,000 people dying. No movie has ever come close to actually SHOWING that many deaths.

Depends on perspective. Thanos killed 1/2 the population via his balancing plans. Ronan, on the other hand, was going to use the Power Stone &, essentially, Death Star Xandar. Therefore, although Xandar was attacked, Thanos' attack was a lesser of 2 evils.

Clearly, James Gunn has scaled the marvel universe to a level far superior to anything that has been done since. It is sad to see how all the galactic grandeur introduced by this film was later discarded in successive more-of-thesame films. not even the last 2 movies come close to what was done here in this movie, not in battle scenes, but in the grand context. Russo brothers discarded this, as well as ignored key characters like the Elders, for nothing...

I agree with you. This was the direction MCU was supposed to take. New worlds new intergalactic empires and a universe thriving with life and competition. Marvel decided to take a very earth centric approach to the MCU all the while intergalactic events of epic proportions were taking place in the same universe. I truly wished this intergalactic aspect to take second place once the infinity saga ended. But they seem to go with the multiverse direction, placing Dr Strange at the centre. Edit: the lack of likes and response shows how nobody probably wanted this intergalactic side of the MCU. Too bad if it had enough fan following, Disney would've considered it. I really hoped to see Thanos and his home world, Titan being raided by the Kree, the epic battle between Kree and Skrulls ( they turned Skrulls into mere refugees) and so many things left unexplored and still they went with the multiverse :==(

Defenses of xandar.only squads of fighters. Defenses.of Washington dc in the winter soldier.3 railgun helicarriers.squads of quinjets.SAMS in the Pentágon.all the NORAD... For a 100 planet empire their defenses sucked a lot
