I love the parallel with the very first scene, when the cage opens and all the baby raccoons back up at the sight of the high evolutionary's hand. And now we see baby raccoons feeling safe with Rocket instantly and getting closer to him, then literally climbing him
@axelmationz
@axelmationz Жыл бұрын
That's actually a really good parallel statement. With the High Evolutionary, we only see a terrifying hand with no face reach towards Rocket. Where when it comes to Rocket opening the cage, he shows his face as a shown of kindness and symbolism
@Zombiesnyder13

That's because they didn't see him as a monster like the High Evolutionary, they saw Rocket as one of them

They’d also perceive him as a parental figure, they can see each other’s faces show they know what they look like, then here comes Rocket, with similar features to their own. This is literally the equivalent of dad meeting his pups for the first time.

God the character development Rocket has gotten has to be one of the best hero arcs of the mcu. Remember this was a guy who more often than not had to be convinced through money or the concept of “if the universe dies you die to” to do something heroic. Now when seeing numerous animals trapped and imprisoned with the threat of torture he weeps he empathizes and is even to risk dying to help all these creatures Rocket truly did earn the role of captain after all

What's so striking is how instinctual this interaction was, both for Rocket, and the babies. Despite the running gag of Rocket claiming he's not a raccoon, he carries the babies on his back as a mother would, and the babies follow suit with clinging to his back, because as baby raccoons, that's all they ever really knew while they were (probably) with their mother. They didn't cowar when he got close, as if to acknowledge "he's like us."

His story starts in the first movie for literally 3 seconds We can see his back wondering. Now we understand. He has big brain and also he has big heart and can judge people from that and not only from their iq. He is emphatic because his entire emotional education comes from three babys that make him care for others and sadly left him too soon in the most heartbreaking scene in the entire mcu

Rocket has been denying that he’s a raccoon from the minute he first heard the word. Until this moment when he came face to face with these pups. Nothing resembled him more in both appearance and in childhood. As for the raccoon pups? They recognized what he was right away. These animals are probably stressed and would be fearful of anything else but another raccoon at that moment. They went right up to him to ask for help or at least comfort. How could Rocket not embrace what he truly is when that’s exactly what these pups needed ?

Imo, this is the most powerful moment in the movie and one of the best closings for a character arc. Rocket finally discovers that he is, indeed, a raccoon and that he’s from Earth. And then looking around crying and seeing all the animals in cages, realizing that they deserve the chance to be saved too.

A masterpiece of an arc. Rocket finally is able to confront the trauma of his past and accept the truth. You see throughout the trilogy he hates and denies he’s a raccoon, running from the pain of his past. Now he’s confronted it, accepted what’s happened and who he is, and that’s why you hear him deliver the line “The name’s Rocket. Rocket Raccoon.” By accepting this, he’s able to overcome his trauma and defeat the High Evolutionary who was always his specter. It’s really neat to go back to the other movies and see why Rocket is the way he is, and it all goes back to what the High Evolutionary did to him and the only way to be reconciled with his past was to confront that which wounded him. Really that’s what each character here by the end is able to do. This is how you make great, compelling characters. The Guardians trilogy is by far the best in the whole MCU.

Not only Rocket realizes his friends never meant to insult him by telling him he's a racoon, but he's also from Earth, just like Star-Lord/Peter Quill.

This is the reason why I trust James Gunn to make a Superman film. If he can make a raccoon thug this heroic and lovable, imagine what he can do to the world’s paragon of hope.

Surprisingly I didn't cry at toofs, floor and lylas scene. But THIS! The ship is on the verge of exploding, rocket grabs the babies and the camera pan's around and you see all the hopeless frightened caged animals , whimpering and crying waiting to die alone on the ship. I CRIED BUCKETS during this scene yet I punched the air when the guardians saved them all! I've never done that towards any other film!

I was scared the whole time we'd suddenly hear a gunshot and Rocket would end up shot just like Lylla. But I'm glad that Gunn just let this story beat (the emotional climax of Rocket's arc) just sit. No dialogue, no other characters, no shock value moments. Just Rocket confronting his past and finding the closure he most desperately needed.

Rocket has the best story in the mcu. The way he was so careless and unloving and reckless was all because of being tortured and you can seem small glimpses of who he truly is in a few films. Loving and caring. And in the final film he shows that he is a leader, a protector and willing to sacrifice everything
