It was only last December when I was searching for the best "Holy Night" & "Ave Maria" that I discovered Sussel as the best versions of both. Classical music has always been an important part of my life but I has not been much into singers or songs. After discovering Sissel, however, I have spent far more time listening to Sissel (and other female singers such as Celtic Woman, though much less) than Bach, Beethoven or Rachmaninoff (my three most beloved composers)! Whenever I listen to Sissel duet with another singer, I have the sense that it is Sissel who adjusts to her partner in such a way both shine. Sissel is talented in singing in the same way Mozart was talented in music composition.

@@genkuworld I have loved music also, but like you, not very interested in any particular singer nor musician. Since discovering Sissel, my range of appreciation (the TYPES of music that I can enjoy) has VASTLY enlarged (as long as it is Sissel doing the singing) ! However, it has NOT gone well for other singers - after all, when you have heard The Very Best - all others pale by comparison !! 🙂 I agree with what you said about duets.

@@TLChrist: There are some Irish songs and others Sissel has not sung (as far as I know). Sometimes I listen to those songs sung by the best. 90% Sissel; 10% others. When she was young, she sang Sukiyaki-song, the famous Japanese popular song with which I grew up. The original title means "Let's walk looking up" and has nothing to do with sukiyaki, which is a Japanese beef dish. That song, when Sissel sings, I always laugh. So cute & so funny, and so amazingly good, but still Kyu Sakamoto, the original Japanese singer, remains unsurpassed.

@@genkuworld I didn't mean that about not listening to anyone else totally literally (at least, not TOTALLY). There are a FEW other singers that I listen to occasionally. Anne Hawkins is VERY good. She has three outstanding selections in this collection. She is a much less versatile and less talented version of Sissel (also a "cross-over soprano"). Exquisite performance by Sissel N other singers! Most amazing!
