+SirLimpsalot Rare and appreciating at last. An amazing v6 engine and I still think they look beautiful. Even if it had the V12 I don't think the top end speed would be much higher plus it would weigh allot more and cooling to consider. Active aerodynamics these days make car styling wayyy to fussy. The XJ220 S is sweet. Out of curiosity what was the colour of the XJ220 you saw? Not far from Edinburgh myself.

The car isn't rare, it's people that buy them as an investment and never drive it and leave it to rot in the garage and the engine seizes up from all the oil dripping down away from the engine. The 2010 Pontiac Vibe only sold 97 models. The 2011 Mercury Milan only sold about 30 or less. Plenty more rare cars than a XJ220, its just people do not drive an XJ220 on the road. It is trailered to and from car shows.

I got to drive a jag s-type R for a couple weeks to bring it over 2500 miles so we could sell it as a used car. It only had 940 miles when we aquired it. Not only did it sound better than any bone stock production car i had ever heard at the time, fuck me was it a drift machine. Within the first 5 minutes driving the thing I drifted the entire 360° freeway entrance perfectly. The rear diff was a thing of beauty. It was on or off. No bullshit. The gear ratios were kind of odd, BIG gap on the 2-3 shift but 3-4 was unbelievable. When you revved it the thing cracked like a whip. Seriously i had a super tricked out Audi b5 Rs4 at the time. I converted it to a single turbo, haltech stand alone ecu, lightweight single mass flywheel and a whole bunch of other stuff. It made 512hp at all 4 wheels. My point being, with that flywheel being less than 3 lbs in my audi, the thing sounded very impressive. The jag sounded more tight. Anyone know what im talking about?? I wanna say it was a 2009 s-type R. It was FFFFUUUUGLY as all get out but, the British racing green, the staggered wheelset they came with, and that glorious supercharged V6 left me giving absolutely zero fux about the stupid ass front end. I almost bought it, then I learned how much a 23 year old kid would have to pay for full coverage insurance on the thing. Guess...go ahead I'll wait...... WRONG!!!!! $506 A MONTH was the cheapest I could find. That was $128 less than the payment itself. The car was so cool I STILL almost bought it. But my best friend who I worked with at the time was like "Bro, I love you, but you're gonna hate yourself in 90 days if you go through with this. You can go buy a brand new Shelby gt500 for less." So that's what I did, hahahahaha!!!

Jaguar Chasseur Stealth TORNADO. There were only two built 001, and 002. 001 is currently for sale in Ireland, for a lot less than £53 thousand. The cost of road tax in the republic, for this beast would make your eyes water. I'm sorely tempted to buy it, but SWMBO would go ape.

Your right. 001 was currently for sale in Ireland. I bought it. Which is the one Clarkson drove in this clip. Yeah I kept the old Irish tax disc in the window showing it was €1890 per year. Outstanding. I also own 002 aswell so I have both in my possession. 2 very seriously fast cars.

Where instead of trying to be entertaining with drifting and sliding, it focuses on the car's attributes and features. IMO, its more serious and that's what I'm really looking for.

I DONT think so lol, Hennessy did make vipers (tuned them up and what-not atleast) but I'm pretty sure it was just called the Hennessy viper get or gts or maybe team Hennessy Viper? I don't quite remember but it was my favorite car in gran turismo.... 3? My memory isn't working very well this morning... Plus he said the name of them and it wasn't Hennessy js lol

+geterhero They were called the (viper) venom like he said in the video. I remember them using that paint scheme on some of the examples that showed up in Motor Trend. You can look it up on Hennessey's website.

+geterhero Hennessey wasn't a big name back then like he is now so there's a good chance they referred to it as venom rather than Hennessey Venom Viper. He was one on the few people tuning that car back then that appeared in magazines. I'm sure there were a few other ones, but his was the only one showing up in car magazines at that time. I had a subscription to Road & Track and Motor Trend and read each month from cover to cover multiple times lol. I was obsessed.

+Anthony Mancini yep, you're right, I stand corrected, I didn't think they would reuse the name but atleast its a good one they're using lol, I didn't realize they weren't well known back then so I just assumed Jeremy would've mentioned the name as in "Hennessy Viper Venom or Viper Venom Hennessy... Though now in saying it it just muddies up the name lol

tveirken1 and yet 1 less HP than a stock 5.0L Lexus ISF. 350hp less than my 3.0L 2JZ. The Viper always underwhelmed me by it's horsepower. Kind of lame back then.

Yeah let's compare 20 year old technology with modern Lexus why not. How much power does your JZ makes from factory? 300 if you're lucky. Vette made 350 back then. Most japanese cars were locked to 280hp and you know that. Hottest shit from europe was like McLaren F1 with 621hp. 911 had 400 max with 2 turbos slapped in. What about torque figures? 1st gen Viper had 465 lb·ft (630 N·m) while McLaren F1 had 480 lb·ft (651 N·m). Everyone ignores the fact SRT team increased Viper's hp by more than 160% while sticking to same NA engine. Hurr durr giant engine producing low hp. yeah, except it weights just like VR38DETT GTR's engine while making a hundred more hp. Why no one complains about Veyron with it's 8.0l W16 with 4 turbochargers making 1k hp? Even your Supra with a turbo from a truck can make more.

Healt Desimal mmmkay my Supra back when the Viper came out made 320hp stock and with literally 4 parts made 410whp/~450crank, more than the Viper and yes in the early 90s. An intake, downpipe, exhaust and boost controller got you sub 4 second 0-60mph times on an otherwise stock car. The fact that Dodge FINALLY made that much power is a fine example of how incompetent they were in the 90s. The OEM couldn't even beat a mildly upgrade 183/3.0L I6 with an 8.0L V10. I'm not impressed. Oh and then let's compare them on a road course or a drag strip. One is a death trap, the other a solid and predictable performer. 🤔

And again you are comparing car with mods to the stock car. Apples to oranges. Doesn't really matter how much you can void your varranty you are still voiding it. And yeah, death trap with 13 world records. While Supra has? Yes, none. Old VIper is still there in the top ten cars around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Modified for drag strip? How about fastest 1/2 mile RWD trap speed? Stock? Try Dodge Demon. Dodge has you covered. Do I hate on Supra? Of course I don't. That would be silly. The car has potential. But I also think it's hella overrated. It's not all about horsepower, it's all about the feelings, emotions and passion you get man.

450BHP isn't that much today. A lot in the 90's but average today. Most 911's have that now.

Cars back then had to rely on mechanical engineering and driver skill to not kill you as soon as you turn the wheel, but now you can have 1000bhp and driver aids do most of the work for you.

Saw an XJ220 the other day on the A40 between Burford and Cheltenham, and I was like OMG, my girlfriend really wasn't interested lol but I was shocked to see a XJ220 on the road, such a rare car, reminds me of playing Gran Turismo as a kid

Yes it was, racing cars in the 90's were already reaching over 700hp, and there were a few super cars that had 600+hp.

the xj220 and the viper have probably held their value very well, curious about the xjr though. Probably unusual for the normal version of that car to be over $5,000
