As a person with emetophobia, getting laughed at and people dismissing it, is very common and very frustrating. Phobias can’t always be “cured.” They can be managed and worked on but it’s very hard for the individual going through it. It may seem ridiculous and funny to people like the guy in the grey shirt, but it’s very intense and real for people who have this phobia. Just bc you don’t experience the phobia doesn’t make it less scary for the person with the fear.

the emetophobia part actually made feel really bad for the poor girl, grey shirt guy just completely invalidated her fear. as someone who has emetophobia myself and has been told how irrational and stupid i am for being scared of vomit by my own mother, i would probably start tearing up.🙁

I can completely understand the girl with emetophobia. I have it too and it has such a big impact on my life. Whenever I even think of having a belly ache or vomit I start to feel sick and nauseous. This has gotten so bad that I avoid certain places and situations because I know that I or someone I know has felt nauseous there. I hate theaters, shopping centers, trains, busses and long rides and I try to avoid them as much as possible just because I'm afraid to get sick. I always have medication and water on me "just in case", even if I never really vomit (I haven't puked in like 7 years). Even writing this makes me nauseous. I'm actually glad that there are people sharing my fear, but I'm also sad that there are a lot of people not believing and not understanding it exists. I hope this comment creates a bit of awareness around this fear because it's something more than a fear. It's like a curse to me.

I understand the emetophobia so much. It’s terrfiying to me. I do not think people understand how horrible this fear can be. The girl with the cotton phobia describing how her teeth hurt when she touches it is one of the symptoms of autism or sensory processing disorder or something of that nature, I have similar issues with stuff like uneaten food on plates or the smell of dishwater or certain textures making me physically vomit and need to get out of the room. It can be almost anything and even being close to it can be physically painful - if you’re struggling with it, don’t be afraid to go see someone about it and do a bit of research on SPD and sensory overload, understanding what triggers it and why can go a long way in making it more manageable

the grey shirt guy seriously pushed some boundaries cuz like these are genuine phobias which some seemed severe. honestly he seems like the guy that i would want to be around the least. some people just don’t get wha5 a boundary is and when to stop joking around. some things are feared for reasons that may not understand, but that doesn’t mean you should make that worse.

Oh hell nah, I have majority of these phobias so most of this whole video is uncomfortable for me, but I literally started gagging, tearing up and shaking when the vomit part happened and had to look away and shield my eyes from the screen and take my headset off. That is the one thing I absolutely cannot deal with. I don't know how she handled that so well especially in person so props to her.

Feel happy to see that emetophobia was included in this! I have it and it is a real thing, it has affected my life in many ways. I have been able to partially overcome it in therapy by dealing with the trauma that led me to it, but it was definitely crucial for me to know that this phobia existed and that I was not being dramatic or anything like that. i got agoraphobia, it means the fear of being outside your home more or less, particularly places you cannot escape from without causing a scene. that goes for cars, busses, the dentist, the hair salon shopping malls, but it generally is there constantly when outside. it's just the fight or flight response kicking in and you don't know when or where and it fucks up your whole body basically it's not a good time. it affects my everyday life and have been for the last 10+ years, i have been outside and i do go outside, it's just a constant struggle to keep myself calm and i get so tired of it that sometimes a 30 minute walk feels like a marathon because i've tensed up so much and hyperventilated and many small sessions in the state of panic in different amounts throughout that i just go home and lay down for a good solid hour or two. how i got it? well i was at work and all of a sudden i just had a panic attack from nowhere and i thought it was a heart problem because my chest started hurting and my left arm felt a bit numb, not super numb but it didn't feel right. now it's not as much panic attacks anymore, now it's more just generalized anxiety so it has gotten better, but that took a long time for me to even feel courageous enough being outside at all for the fear of either completely panicking or passing out. it's a weird phobia and it's kinda wrongfully labeled the fear of being outside when it's more so the fear of fears.

i have emetophobia, as soon as she walked out with the bucket and made a little noise, i skipped instantly. i’m in therapy for this phobia i have. it’s very severe and effects my daily life terribly. my heart is pounding and i’m shaking and i never even saw her get sick. i hope everyone who’s terribly afraid of something as severe as this phobia is for me recovers.❤

I have OCD(?) and mysophobia Whenever I touch something I don't think is clean or came back from work/going outside, I always try to wash myself throughly with soup multiple times on the same spots until I feel clean. it kinda mess with my life. Luckily my showering session never took longer than 1~hour but still it's exhausting, both on the mind and body.

The vomit one I have and totally get. It’s terrifying and no one understands how much it’s effected my life. Last year a kid almost threw up and I started crying. When I was younger my friend through up at school and I had to go home cuz I was crying and shaking so much. Every time some throws up near me I have a panic attack.

I have a few phobias like Tokophobia but many other fears that I don't know the name of like fear of empty rooms, houses with more than one floor, dark corners and dark rooms especially when the room is open, something peaking around a corner, fear of looking behind me in a mirror. But I dono if me hating vomit is a Phobia. I went almost 10 years without vomiting until my period was so bad and the heat made it worse and it made me throw up. When I get drunk I stop when I start to feel like I can't control myself cause I don't want to vomit. I hate the sounds or people vomiting and always skip parts in movies or KZfaq vids when people vomit. What I hate the most about vomiting is that feeling before you throw up. Your tummy keeps her king, you get these shivers and I hate those shivers. I will literally choose to have diarrhea over vomiting.

My fiance used to have casadastrophobia which is the fear of falling into the sky. He wasn't able to look at the sky without triggering it. Thankfully, he was able to overcome it through immersion therapy
